Rising Tides is intended to play as an aggressive Merfolk tribal deck, with two main goals:

First, to press an offensive with Merfolk creatures and tokens, and second, to suppress the opponent using counterspells. The deck can also trigger an infinite turn loop, using Wanderwine Prophets and Stonybrook Schoolmaster , preferably with an unblockable effect such as Aqueous Form or Merfolk Sovereign.

Tideshaper Mystic is used both to generate additional white mana in order to cast Stonybrook Schoolmaster , and can also be used offensively, together with Master of the Pearl Trident.
