This is a spellslinger format for Riku of two reflections. I changed the name to Rally because it is competitive but meant to be fun at the same time. Also, the deck tends to rally late game to some very serious and exciting conclusions.

If you like to copy spells, cast spells that affect the entire board state and generally like shenanigans- this is the deck for you.

It is a very explosive deck and here is how I try to play it.

Epic Experiment this is my favorite game ender because it is just crazy. If people don't scoop then it can lead to some VERY interesting game play as things unfold. Getting to an epic experiment can be difficult as people know how crazy Riku can get so they try and send some hate his way when they can, even if he is playing it cool.

Staying alive- this is done through a couple different mechanics. The main mechanic is to simply burn the crap out of whatever hits the field and is causing problems. Direct burn makes up a lot of this deck and often serves a dual purpose of destroying and drawing cards Prophetic Bolt for example.

The other mechanic is putting out some deterrents a la creatures. There aren't a TON of creatures in here, but if you can get Riku out then it is easy to copy some of them. There are also spells that create creatures, which I love to copy, such as Crush of Wurms .

Staying alive is mainly about not becoming a huge target yourself and keeping the board state clear of major threats.

All the while... growing your mana base to as ridiculous a proportion as possible! There is a TON of mana ramp in here because this general is HUNGRY!

The nice thing about this deck is that I never worry about casting a spell and "wasting it" because there is plenty of spell recursion and whatever spells in my graveyard pump up my Runechanter's Pike and Spellheart Chimera for a late game win. Try copying a Rite of Replication kicked on Spellheart Chimera and see how quickly the table scoops...

That is just a glimpse into the true potential of this deck. There are so many options it really is hard to say there is a "best" and I encourage you to play with different spells and creature combinations until you find the right balance that makes it fun to play and able to stay competitive in your meta.

There are weaknesses, but those will get shored up as I continue playing this deck. In the future I will probably change it up to be a Riku creature ovverrun token deck but until then I am having a blast with the current build.

Managed to play an azorius J to N prerelease tourney this last weekend and got some FUN cards. Biggest funnest card was Battlefield Thaumaturge but Hour of Need came in a close second. Both helped me win some very good battles and I am thinking it might be time to rebuild the Riku deck with a little more creature orientation.

It's hard to find a nice blend of spells/creatures that doesn't end up stalling out or leaving you with a dead hand, but through play I am finding out which cards really change the gameplay and which seem underpowered.... unfortunately very few seem underpowered in this deck (or unneeded) so it is difficult to try and remove them for something else... My thought was to put some more WIZARDS in the deck Battlefield Thaumaturge Echo Mage Diluvian Primordial and then throw in the Conjurer's Closet Illusionist's Bracers and a Deadeye Navigator to really spice things up. Other possibilities are Mage Slayer, Trinket Mage, Treasure Mage, Jade Mage, and Dragon Mage as well as Jaya Ballard. So... real mage heavy, but I want to create a situation where I am not TOO hurt if Riku gets bounced. So... mages it is.

I am thinking I need to just start a Riku deck from scratch and build it creature overrun style. Otherwise I am going to end up cannibalizing one deck for the other... They will be built pretty much entirely differently anyway...

Ya see, I hate playing with the same cards from one deck to the next... makes the gameplay a little stale for my tastes. Like "hey I used that card to win years ago!"
