Reyhan and Ishai: Face-Wreckers

Commander / EDH* Four Color

Maybeboard

A partner deck revolving around Reyhan's ability to move +1/+1 counters for the benefit of many cards while providing a large beatstick in the form of Ishai.

My first draft was just beatsticks with a side order of beatsticks with no real recovery if someone at the table played wrath or other board wipes.I was able to get Ishai to 138 counters but my opponent had an ensnaring bridge and goblin welder so I was rather stuck just sitting there.

After consulting my friends, i started adding in some more techy cards to gain flexibility, this comes from my creatures that let me remove +1/+1 counters to do stuff, as well as continuing to buff the creatures that have counters on them.

Some concerns I have for the deck is the lack of sac outlets and token generators. Ashnod's Altar isn't going to be very useful to me if I have no real need to use it, and Gisa, Hooded Hydra, and Ghave aren't in the current iteration of the deck so I have limited access to chump blockers. another concern is the lack of search. In a previous build, I had Increasing ambition and that was it besides Green sun's and what I thought felt like a lot of potential draw power (though I wasn't able to pull any recurring draw effects in any test game I had). Now that it's currently just Green sun's and a little less draw power,I'm nervous about not having enough power in my hand. My third biggest concern is the lack of counter spells and other protection abilities. I didn't have any in my first draft and felt the pain of every boardwipe and spot removal ability on the board because of how quickly I was becoming a threat.

Some strengths of the deck, however, is the ability to reliably be able to tempo out almost any hand and be able to play just about anything with 4 or 5 lands of varying colors available. My low mana curve definitely helps with this and any draw spell I cast is almost guaranteed to be something else I can play right away in the same turn. I also am able to get gigantic creatures on the board relatively quickly for a multi-player EDH deck, with Ishai most often coming in turn 4, sometimes turn 3 if I'm lucky, and Reyhan coming either right after or before her so I'm able to hold onto any counters pretty safely. With these two strengths,I can very quickly get some early hits and show myself to be a future threat if left unchecked... But that goes back to being singled-out and losing my board state regularly; my third game with the first draft, I was not able to keep a single creature on the board for an entire turn-round as everything I played was just removed at each turn, which led to an un-fun game which is totally against the spirit of EDH!

Thanks for checking out my deck, and for reading this far if you did, questions and comments are welcome, as are solutions for the weaknesses here. any suggestions for replacing cards in the main board with maybe board cards are welcome too. Thanks again!-Voidraven
