Sideboard

Aristocrats are known for many machinations that they use to get whatever their heart desire. It is not different in the world of magic - even in the game of magic they are quietly pulling the strings to finally reach their goal - to kill the opponent.

This deck tries to utilize the numerous LTB effect of almost all creatures contained in the deck to exhaust and kill the opponent.

While it may not and probably is not the best and the most competitive deck you are ever going to see, I believe it is interesting enough to share it with wider community. Without any other pointless talking, let's get to it.

Creatures

Viscera Seer, Cartel Aristocrat and Teysa, Orzhov Scion are the sac engines of this deck. Without them, the rest of the deck would be pointless. Teysa, Orzhov Scion has the added bonus of producing additional bodies which is always nice.

Yet Viscera Seer is the most important of the aristocrats. The scry 1 ability is huge in this deck and with so many sac objects, we almost always get to draw the very card we need.

Well, it is a big part of this deck. As I said above, this deck tries to utilize LTB triggers and effects and therefore most of the creatures have these effects.

The best targets for sacrificing are Doomed Traveler, Tukatongue Thallid and Voice of Resurgence. All of these creatures leave another body behind when they die, which is perfect for this deck.

Why exactly this creature? People usually play Tarmogoyf at 1G, right? Well, believe it or not, the Satyr is priceless for this deck. If you have not figured out why just yet, I will get to that in a minute. For now, just keep in mind that having the graveyard filled with as many cards as possible is great.

Of course, producing many tokens is nice but it is not a big deal. However, this strategy becomes much more interesting with the Blood Artist. Now all the pieces are coming together, aren't they?

Why would we use Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek, when we have Tidehollow Sculler? This card is just perfect for this deck! Disruption on a stick is precisely what we need. It can be saced and there is a cool combo to even exile a card. But more about this later.

Well, having the ability to return a card to our hand is very important, but more about this later. Just remember that it is great and that it cooperates with Satyr Wayfinder.

Other spells

This is the real reason for playing this deck. Now all the sac effects seem much better, right? With Blood Artist + Viscera Seer + some mix of Doomed Traveler and other creatures like that we get tokens + triggers and then we bring all of the sacrificed creatures back and can sac them again. Fun, isn't it?

That is the reason for playing the Satyr Wayfinder, to get some targets for the Return to the Ranks into the graveyard. Oh, and it is a perfect target for the Eternal Witness.

Even though it is not as strong as it is in zoo decks, it still functions pretty well. It can grab the Eternal Witness which is pure value if we happen to have Return to the Ranks in the yard, Blood Artist or Voice of Resurgence are all great targets. It helps significantly with repopulating the board after a board wipe.

As you have noticed, there are quite a lot of small creatures. And there is a lot of them. Abzan Ascendancy lets them grow bigger, which is sometimes quite scary. Yet it is involved in here mainly for its second ability that lets us populate the board very quickly. With the Ascendancy out, this deck becomes truly terrifying.

Tips & Tricks

Don't forget that it is in your deck! If you ever find yourself lacking a creature to sacrifice and all you top deck is a fetch land, then go and search the Dryad Arbor and proceed as you have planned!

This is one of the best creatures to be milled by the Satyr. When you cast Return to the Ranks , and you are not able to kill your opponent on this very turn, go ahead and grab as many of the Scullers as possible!

You can also exile cards from your opponent's hand. Put the Sculler's ETB trigger on the stack, then sacrifice the Sculler. Its LTB ability will trigger and when the Sculler is gone, the ETB ability on the stack will finally resolve and will exile a card forever!

Don't hesitate and use its ability! If you have enough creatures and all you are missing is a Return to the Ranks , go on and scry! It is worth it.

Fetch as often as possible. Top decking lands is almost always terrible in this deck and fetching will thin your library. And don't worry, you will get extra lands thanks to the Satyr Wayfinder.
