Resurgence in the Forest Token/Beatdown UPDATED

Modern*

Hey guys this is a deck I made (changes thanks to the community here) for the purpose of big token creatures with support. If the token approach fails, this deck is still very capable of winning with nontoken creatures.

Shock and Fetches for increasing deck speed. This deck could probably be played without them, but I like efficiency.

Playing the deck is simple. You want to lay down some creatures + Wayfaring Temple and Voice of Resurgence. You've got a couple great combat tricks in this deck. I personally like forcing my opponent to counter spells that I play to proc the static ability on Voice of Resurgence. As soon as you hit 3-5 creatures, burn up a Dromoka's Command to force a Voice of Resurgence to fight a battle it won't win, the resulting tokens get out of hand REALLY fast and with every creature being 3 drops plus you'll have the help of Lingering Souls (use BoP to flash it back). I personally suggest blowing up Voice of Resurgence only if you control two copies of it on the field, and/if your opponent doesn't have an instant-heavy deck that you can take advantage of. Voice of Resurgence is pricey for a damn good reason. Qasali Pridemage is a tasty 2 drop creature that comes in at 2/2 that offers incredible utility for this deck in two ways. Pay 1 and sacrifice to blow up an artifact or enchantment, and it gives +1/+1 to creatures attacking alone. Gavony Township acts as sort of a hail Mary in this deck for its ability. I am still on the fence about whether or not I will keep it in the deck. It really only shines if you manage to really populate your side of the field. I am also considering lowering my mana base to add a couple other cards that would really benefit this deck. I've got a few in mind I am trying to narrow down.

My general rule in competitive play is simple. If I do not draw a hand with at least one Birds of Paradise, one Voice of Resurgence, and one land that produces 1 green mana, I mulligan. I've gone down to 5 cards to achieve this and in nearly EVERY case it proved to be well worth it.

Thanks for viewing. What do you think?
