Resper Good Stuff with value generation and a bit of combo, largely wins through a relatively fast grind but can steal the W with Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin.

Strong opening hands usually include a Signet, as turn 3 Breya is the business against many decks. Her ability to spend the thopters on removing an early threat is very good.

Strong individual cards: On an empty or near-empty board, some cards sharply appreciate in value due to their repeatable resource advantage or high direct threat level. For example:

• Chandra, Flamecaller can either put the enemy in the dirt with her +1 ability or recycle your hand to get out more threats. Notably, filling the graveyard can be very beneficial in this deck, since you have many ways of using cards in that zone such as Snapcaster Mage, Sharuum the Hegemon, and Goblin Welder or Daretti, Scrap Savant.

• Inkwell Leviathan should surprise nobody here, just a monster that ends games.

• Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas turns signets into beaters or pulls great cards from the top of your deck.

• Thopter Assembly looks almost designed for this deck. If you trigger it, you pretty much have the advantage for a while. Those thopters turn into Dismembers or Lava Spike s with Breya, or just chump/get chip damage if you have nothing else synergistic in play like Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas.

• Keranos, God of Storms quietly churns away, giving you card advantage and Lightning Bolts. The longer he sits unanswered, the further ahead you get, which makes it convenient that he is difficult to answer.

Notable Synergies:

• Goblin Welder/Daretti, Scrap Savant + recursive artifacts. Pairing one of these cards with pieces like Ichor Wellspring, Wurmcoil Engine, or Solemn Simulacrum can start to propel you rather far ahead of your opponents. Remember that you can work artifact lands and mana rocks into the rotations with their salvage abilities when appropriate.

• Splinter Twin/Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + blink creature. Pestermite , Deceiver Exarch, and Restoration Angel don't seem like the most obvious inclusions in the deck, but they can be great tempo plays and instantly win the game if combined with either Twin or Kiki-Jiki and the opponents have no answer. Note that you can't put Splinter Twin on Restoration Angel directly, but both Twin and Kiki-Jiki can interact very favourably with the various ETB creatures like Baleful Strix , Solemn Simulacrum , Torrential Gearhulk, Sphinx Summoner, etc. Hell, even Breya isn't a terrible target if you want more thopters. If you want to take the Splinter Twin theme further, then I would imagine other commanders suiting you better, but other ETB creatures that work with the combo include Village Bell-Ringer, Zealous Conscripts, and a personal favourite of mine that didn't quite make the cut in this list, Sky Hussar .

• Conqueror's Flail + Breya. Make Breya an 8/8 with one cheap artifact. Pretty dope.

• Thopter Foundry + Sword of the Meek is exactly what it says on the tin; if you have time and mana, you have functionally infinite thopters and life.

• Mystical Teachings deserves some mention here just because it's important to know what can be tutored with this. The clause about 'cards with flash' means a lot here, as the list of non-instants you can fetch with this includes the following:

  • Bogardan Hellkite

  • Deceiver Exarch

  • Pestermite

  • Restoration Angel

  • Snapcaster Mage

  • Torrential Gearhulk

  These are all very good hits in certain spots, either finishing a combo, recurring a vital spell, or just applying more pressure to the enemy.
