Everyone is excited about blue spirits and white spirits -- Bant Spirits, Esper Spirits, Abzan Spirits. Mono-red spirits might be a more casual choice, but I think this deck makes a good case for a splash of red for some of those other boring color combos.

With Skyfire Kirin as the commander, it should be no surprise that the primary strategy of the deck is a threaten/fling theme, which, in my opinion, happens to be one of the most fun Magic deck archetypes. The deck has plenty of great fling targets of its own, too. And a bunch of removal.

As much as possible for a mono-red deck, I tried to include answers for everything. In addition to the removal (both board wipes and targeted), there are several options for graveyard hate and a decent amount of recursion and incidental life gain. There is even decent card advantage.

The removal actually includes two ways to deal with enchantments (Chaos Warp and Unstable Obelisk). I was tempted to squeeze in Scour from Existence, too, but I just couldn't justify it. The main plain to deal with problematic enchantments is to kill the opponent who plays them before killing anyone else.

Making the deck more versatile required me to sacrifice a few spirit/arcane slots in the deck, but most of the ones I cut really shouldn't be in any deck anyway (except for Eidolon of the Great Revel -- it just didn't fit this deck and cutting it keeps the price down).

I thought I could cheat on mana since the deck is monocolored, but I might have been too greedy. That said, Myojin of Infinite Rage is probably throwing off the average cost a bit. While it would be great to cast it (preferrably right after an opponent has board wiped) and then nuke everyone's lands, it is also in the deck as a great card to exile for Blazing Shoal.
