So this deck first started as a funny combo between Taunting Elf + Engulfing Slagwurm + Banding (Baton of Morale), and ended up being faster than I thought it would. The idea was that if you attack with Taunting Elf and Engulfing Slagwurm in a band, all your opponent's creatures have to block Taunting Elf and then Engulfing Slagwurm destroys them with its ability.

Simple idea? Yes. Still have friends after? Maybe.

I did make a modern version of this deck which costs slightly more (Utopia Sprawl is pretty expensive for a budget deck) that you can see here: Red Rover Modern [Budget]

I also used the modern version to improve this deck (but I'm keeping this version with banding) which can be found here: Red Rover [Budget] ~$20

I had the killer combo, but I still lacked the win con... I was originally going to use Urza's Engine as a win con by giving all my stuff trample, but that needs a lot of mana that can be used elsewhere, so I thought about Teeka's Dragon which is still a cool card and mixed with banding, you get a huge buff from the defenders, but then nothing is blocking. I tried testing Roughshod Mentor but found it too slow... I finally settled on Killer Bees as a mana outlet as well as it can hit while everything is blocking Taunting Elf. Buff it with +20/+20 isn't too hard and you win.
The main win combos for the deck are:

Taunting Elf + 2 Engulfing Slagwurm + Baton of Morale to use 1 Slagwurm to deal damage while the other supplies life gain.

Taunting Elf + Engulfing Slagwurm + Baton of Morale + Killer Bees to hit when they can't block.

Taunting Elf + Killer Bees to hit them hard when they can't block.

Sideboard stuffs:

Cold Storage can be used if your opponent is using a lot of creature boardwipes. I suggest swapping Primal Command out for it.

Deglamer is a faster replacement for Primal Command, however Deglamor cannot remove planeswalkers.

Thresher Beast can used for making your opponent hate you more by slowly getting rid of their lands. I suggest swapping Primal Command out for it.

The main thing (I think) this deck with struggle with is heavy control and/or burn. If they kill your creatures then you're not going to have a fun time.

You do have the draw cards to keep using your mana, but losing Arbor Elf and Voyaging Satyr will hurt.

This deck still struggles against heavy control. I've also run into problems against elf decks, but overall the deck works pretty well.

I've had a lot of fun using the deck, plenty of wins as well. I think it's been about 50-50 in the creature hate and control meta I tend to play. It all comes down to who get's the combo for their deck first, and this deck has quite a few it needs to get out.

I love banding, so I'll keep this deck how it is (it can be fun in multiplayer, that's for sure), but for those who want to see the improved, cheap version of the deck can find it deck:mtg-decks/red-rover-budget-20
