Sideboard

Creature (2)

Maybeboard

Mono red dragon deck utilizing goblins in a support role for the dragons.

Skirk Prospector turns your goblins into a red mana source. Additional Mana comes from Wily Goblins ETB effect of creating a treasure token.

Krenko, Mob Boss and Goblin Gathering keeps your fodder pool overflowing with bodies. It would be a shame to not maximize your ramp by not including a few Infernal Plunge's.

For the dragons we will start with Slumbering Dragon. It is used to help stall the early game a bit or your opponent risks putting an 8/8 flyer on the board. It at least soaks up a removal spell.

Thunderbreak regent adds a fairly powerful repercussion for opponents slinging spells at your dragons, and makes bouncing dragon tokens risky business.

Moonveil Dragon gives all your creatures +1/+0 for one red mana! That pile of goblins waiting to be sacrificed? Drop a Dragonsrage and each attacking creature creates a red mana. Pump moonveil with it and all of the sudden those goblins just turned into freight trains. Alternatively once Krenko has had a few turns to double all of the goblins on the field each turn, drop a Descent of the Dragons to turn them all into 4/4 flyers.

Lathliss, Dragon Queen is a source of dragon tokens, with the added advantage of being able to pump all dragons +1/+0 for 2 Mana.

If you are lucky enough to ramp into a Balefire Dragon early there is a pretty good chance you are just going to melt your opponents board each turn, especially if you have out a Dragon Tempest to give all of your flyers haste. Not to mention doing X damage every time a dragon enters the battlefield. Where X is the amount of dragons on your board.

Utvara Hellkite is the cock of the walk, allowing really wild dragon token generation.

Pulling the strings you will find Sarkhan, Fireblood. His + abilities will let you rummage for cards and add two Mana to help ramp your dragon spells. While being fairly weak early game if he has some dragons to hide behind his ultimate puts a pile of dragons on the field and potentially triggers Dragon Tempest for lethal damage.

For our burn spells we're taking Banefire, Roast, and Thud. Roast let's us ping those problem creatures (with delicious flavor) and Banefire will take care of more stubborn threats in addition to being a game ender. Thud is most certainly a game ender as well.

Our Mana base will be 19 mountains Augmented with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx To take advantage of the heavy red devotion. Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle helps get in that last few damage in the late game. Cavern of Souls is a one trick pony for your dragon spells, but that one trick is to get them to stick to the battlefield.

So there it is! I'm really excited about this deck. It seems like there is some really great synergy going on. I am especially giddy with the prospect of turning 12 goblins into dragons with Descent of the Dragons. Unfortunately my original plans for the deck changed alot. My main focus when I started it was the Mana ramp combo of skirk Prospector, wily goblins, and kuldotha rebirth. Sacking the treasure token for three 1/1 goblins then you could sack the goblins for three mana. More with infernal Plunge. Pirate's pillage was another key component, and I'm sure it still has a place in this deck. Card draw is not a strong point. Additionally I had envisioned treasure maps, and dragons horde to really ram home the dragon treasure trope. But as I was building for it and "playtesting" I realized i was putting more effort into creating resources then actually winning. When kuldotha rebirth went off it was an awesome ramp, but more often then not it would be sitting in my hand for multiple turns waiting for treasure tokens. Goblin Gathering while more expensive at least scaled into the late game very well. And no amount of treasure tokens was going to win me the game. (Unless I wanted to splash black and add Revel in riches, in which case that number would be ten). As for the sideboard I'm not quite sure and would like some feedback from competitive players and get some effective options for dealing with weak points.
