Second Major Update!! —Aug. 19, 2018

I have added cards like Repeal and Metallic Rebuke to make greater use of our artifact base, as well as to accelerate our Erayo flipping speed. Given some of the changes in the meta I have see fit to revamp the sideboard to facilitate better game 2 pairings. Finally I added some sweet deck tech in the form of Cathartic Reunion and Buried Ruins to help us dig for what we want while ditching some of what we don’t.

If you got a T2 Erayo flipped against me I would flip the table LGS be damned!

Retract could be nice to pick back up your 0 drops and then play the Astral Cornucopia for mana later in the game.

I mostly use the Coretapper to add charge counters to Astral Cornucopia, and Everflowing Chalice, but I know what you mean turn 2 Erayo is suuuuper degenerate.

I think that Mana Leak would be stronger than Silence, as Silence is mostly useful when comboing, which your deck doesn't do, or on an Isochron Scepter, which you don't have. Also, I'd bump it up to 2 Academy Ruins because it seems too useful in the face of artifact destruction.

Silence is an automatic inclusion in this deck because it can deny turns for my opponent allowing me to set up my rather cumbersome lockdown, while Mana Leak is nice because this is essentially a stalling-control deck the extra cost that leak adds becomes useless as they will likely have an abundance of lands by mid game. At its core this deck simply does not function in such a way that that would allow me to take meaningful advantage of leak in a way that I would otherwise not find in silence.

That and it's a nice way to get Erayo, Soratami Ascendant off easily which is a pretty central idea for the deck.

Chimeric Mass / Sigil of Distinction for a beatdown backup plan? possibly a Grinding Station Enduring Renewal combo?

I use Orochi Hatchery as my secondary win condition as I can search for it useing Tolaria West and it allows me to by-pass cards like Leyline of Sanctity my going wide.

Why no serum visions? Also retract can help flip erayo

hmm... after playing with it a bit, the only suggestion I would make would be to find a 2cc wincon you could tutor for with Muddle the Mixture, like Luminarch Ascension instead of Ghirapur AEther Grid.

With such a finicky combo on such a small mana base, putting your wincon at 3cc and splashing a 3rd color for it seems like a huge risk. You're not really using the red for anything else.

If you do end up taking out the red and the Steam Vents I suggest swapping in 1 or 2 Calciform Pools to make the most of situations where you are mana starved at 2 and need the 3rd land for a tutor.

The deck is a prison style so I don't have a great concern for the win condition as if I set up my lockdown I can just wait, thus my only major concern is getting there in the first place.

@skrid54321 I don't see why I would need it as I have Remand & Mishra's Bauble for draw with 2Tolaria West and 4Muddle the Mixture for tutoring my core. I feel that Serum Visions has its place in decks that lack the synergy this one posses.

Have you thought of adding Darksteel Citadel for a turn 1 Erayo flip?

Cool idea. Biggest problem I see is the insane weakness to Abrupt Decay. Honestly I think you should totally play Meddling Mage out of the sideboard just to combat this problem, because take it from a Thing Ascension player, abrupt decay can be a nightmare.

Only other suggestion I have is Chalice of the Void in place of the Silences. I realize chalice on 0 is counter-intuitive, but with the silences gone you play no other 1-drops in the deck. That makes Chalice on 1 extremely appealing. It protects all of your creatures from early Path to Exiles and Lightning Bolts, shuts off Serum Visions, and even Spell Snare which is great against you. It also is randomly another 0 drop and you can add a charge counter to it with Coretapper so it doesn't shut off your own deck. Seems great.

I do want to add choice but it is just soooooo expensive these days :/ I'll see about adding them to the deck list for the sake of quality but I don't believe I will be marketing the change irl for some time.

i made a deck like this, but with proliferation. i used Throne of Geth and Contagion Clasp to proliferate with Astral Cornucopia and Everflowing Chalice. may i suggest Sun Droplet?

October 1, 2016 10:48 a.m.

ArchFline says... #22

I have in deck Inventor's Fair so Sun Droplet is not necessary. As for proliferate I played with that idea but found it to be inconsistent given the other synergies I run.

I would run Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas as finisher instead of Ghirapur AEther Grid. It's just one mana more, helps finding key cards and can make blocker.

Surge Node could be nice, it's Basically another Coretapper but you can play it turn 1.

I think Paradoxical Outcome could be extremely nice. With all those cheap cards it can draw an amazing amount of cards at instant speed.

Not quite sure which card you'd take out for this, but have you thought about putting in Propaganda to really slow down the opponent? If you can get two or three out.. Even in mid game they might be able to attack with one creature rather than all of what they got

February 20, 2017 2:26 p.m.

ArchFline says... #25

It's important to note that Propaganda is not a modern card. Although I could use Ghostly Prison however such a thing is pointless as this deck hinders casting to lock down opponents. In most cases the opponent will have ample mana to pay the minor attacking cost.
