First attempt at Omnath, Locus of Rage EDH deck. Ramp, landfall, generate elementals, sac elementals.

Initial thoughts Show

Whittling down potential card pool and taking suggestions. I want this to be a "budget" deck so that probably means I'll end up spending a couple hundred dollars on it but I'd like to try to keep the cost down as long as possible until I inevitably cave.

I guess now that I'm cutting cards from contention I should figure out what I'm prioritizing. Obviously elementals are key, as is the ability to drop multiple lands/turn, as well as sac outlets. The ideal card would probably be something like a 5/5 elemental that generates X 1/1 elementals and also allows you to sacrifice them somehow while also letting you play an additional land/turn. And it also lets you draw.

I probably want some removal and pump spells too.

I'm going to run a few things like Bane of Progress strictly as a counter to one of my brother's decks.

Secondary initial thoughts Show

I haven't ordered any of these cards (although I have some crucial things like Omnath already, which motivated me to make this deck) and I've just been playing with it a bit on here. It's possible I may have too much ramp and I think I could also cut some lands. I often find myself with like 8 lands on turn 5 and nothing in my hand and I'm just hoping for draw. I have a lot of elemental token generation but I also find myself not playing creatures until turn 3 or 4 pretty frequently, so I also kind of want to add more creatures. It's pretty satisfying when it works though.

Things I generally don't like so far:

• Blighted Woodland (I hate all the crappy lands - I just really don't want to spend so much; Terramorphic Expanse is fine, at least)
• Constant Mists
• Evolutionary Leap
• Summer Bloom seems like something I would only want in my opening hand if I had five or six lands in it too. I understand it can be really great with landfall later on but I don't feel like I have enough draw to play it late with three extra lands in hand
• Sylvan Scrying

Things I do like:

• Nissa, Vastwood Seer   + Chandra, Torch of Defiance + Courser of Kruphix

Another update Show

Still working on getting to 100. Contrary to my previous update, I cut the Pyromancer and probably a couple of other things I previously liked and added some other shit. It's difficult cutting some things when their effects are so similar (like Animist's Awakening and Boundless Realms, although I think I want to keep both of those [but the Awakening sometimes gives me pause]; a better example is Skyshroud Ranger and Walking Atlas, and there's Sakura-Tribe Scout as well. I think in this case I cut the Ranger and the Atlas and add the Scout because it has no sorcery-speed limitation and it costs 1). This is probably due to me being bad at Magic.

I still really like the planeswalkers (especially Nissa, Vastwood Seer  ) and the ramp/land level seems more stable and it's pretty sweet dropping Omnath on turn four or five. I essentially only want to win by dropping eight lands and generating eight 5/5 elementals or doing that and then sacrificing them all.

Things I probably want to deal with in a sideboard: control, flying, artifacts, other things. I dunno what else - I only ever play Commander against like three people.
