Ramos, the Cascading Flicker Storm

Commander / EDH Combo Five Color Storm

SaltySpecula

Description

TL;DR: Ramos. Plus Flicker. Plus Cascade. Plus Storm. Equals wombo combo.

DECK OVERVIEW

This deck has been designed to abuse Ramos, Dragon Engine's two main abilities, which are:

1: Whenever you cast a spell, put a +1/+1 counter on Ramos, Dragon Engine for each of that spell's colors.

and:

2: 'Remove 5 +1/+1 counters, add '

The general flow of this deck's play is: Cascade -> Cascade/Storm -> Remove 5 counters from Ramos for 10 mana -> Flicker Ramos -> draw cards when possible -> repeat.

Most cascade spells are multiple colours, and the cascaded spell is also 'cast', so Ramos gets his counters from the cascaded ability as well. Make sure you have your counter doublers up and make sure you get rid of an opponent's Solemnity the second you see it. Otherwise, this deck falls apart.

Wincons

Once this deck gets going, you'll be looking at Sphinx-Bone Wand, Door to Nothingness and Aetherflux Reservoir to seal the deal. Use Ramos's mana generation to open the Door or to pay for more spells to tick up the Wand or to shoop da whoop with Aetherflux.

Card Categories

The cards of the deck have been sorted into their custom categories to better detail what they do.

  • CORE : These cards are the crutch of the deck. Either the bread and butter, or the ultimate end game. These cards will win or lose you the game.

  • Cantrip, Draw, Tutor, Recycle : Keeps your hand and library full to keep your combo play going.

  • Mana Gain and Fix : 5 colour decks are notoriously difficult to get the right mana for. These cards will help smooth out your mana pool problems.

Personal Opinions and Suggestions

I suggest using the playtest function a few times to get a feel for this deck before trying to create or buy the cards. This is easily the most mechanically complex and trigger intensive deck I've ever made.

seems like a nice batch update, still dont quite get the point of the flicker effects, as ramos will probably be the only target most of the time, and flickering the engine seems like a good way to help it stall out.

but to each their own, happy storming

Izu_Korasu because ramos says "activate this ability only once each turn", so if you flick ramos, it will enter the battlefield as a new ramos and you can use the ability again.

If you have Door to Nothingness, why not run Progenitus, too? 10/10 protection from everything...seems like a good win con.
