This deck is a Pauper Commander deck based on constraints posted in Adam Styborski's article "Cheap Date." So unlike other Pauper metas, we're narrowed down to purely the ten MTGO allied generals. (This changed when the format got stale. Also, Ethan Fleischer has confirmed that Chandler and Joven are probably listed rarity mistakes in Gatherer.) This is my tuned Dimir build that, on occasion, is able to play with fully powered decks. For more power but still remain Pauper Commander applicable for more flexible groups, Rona, Disciple of Gix replaces Ramirez DePietro .

Strategy Show

This is a Dimir deck based around playing control with obsessive card advantage and repeated enters the battlefield effects on nearly every permanent. Ergo, nearly every single card either does something and draws a card or makes a permanent and carries incremental advantage.

The main route to victory is Ghostly Flicker / Displace on Archaeomancer / Mnemonic Wall / Scrivener and Peregrine Drake to generate infinite mana and then Ghostly Flicker / Displace Gray Merchant of Asphodel . Without those cards, Cavern Harpy and Escape Routes are key combo pieces to grind value plays.

Additionally, Pestilence and/or Crypt Rats function as finishers or creature board wipes.

Tutoring Show

Dimir Infiltrator , Muddle the Mixture , and Shred Memory tutors for combo pieces ( Cavern Harpy ) or removal ( Echoing Truth , Victim of Night , Into the Roil ).

Drift of Phantasms tutors for combo pieces ( Displace , Escape Routes , or Ghostly Flicker ), removal ( Ob Nixilis's Cruelty , Capsize , Crypt Incursion , Crypt Rats , Eyeblight's Ending , or Murder ), and recursion ( Cadaver Imp ).

Dimir House Guard is an extremely key card in the deck that tutors for removal ( Faceless Butcher ), card draw ( Deep Analysis , Foresee , and Syphon Mind ), creature recursion ( Gravedigger ), damage-based sweeper ( Pestilence ), instant tutors ( Mystical Teachings ), and most importantly instant spell recursion ( Archaeomancer ). Thus, it can also be recurred for repeatable tutoring.

Brainspoil most importantly chains for instant recursion ( Mnemonic Wall , Salvager of Secrets , and Scrivener ), your combo engine ( Peregrine Drake ), and the primary kill condition of the deck: Gray Merchant of Asphodel .
