Dreadhorde Arcanist feels powerful and should work as a dedicated build around me. Question is how to apply the pressure? At 1/3, with Trample and the ability triggering off attacking, your choices at 1 CMC are pretty lean. Lightning Bolt, Thoughtseize, Path to Exile are all powerful cards but you'll first need to fill up the graveyard if you want to make it worth your while.

I originally contemplated running this in my Mardu Control build but 3 colors felt a little slow and you want to get things popping by T4. This is still a Control shell for the most part but you can get a little more aggressive depending on the draws. I found the synergy that I was looking for with Claim//Fame and Collective Brutality, using Bloodghast as painless discard fodder. Basically, you want to play hand control cards like Thoughtseize or Inquisition on T1, scout your opponent's hand then drop Vexing Devil or Lightning Bolt on T2. Collective Brutality with full activation means further hand disruption, killing a dork (hopefully) and some life gain/life loss. Bloodghast isn't the only discard target. With Claim//Fame, you could toss Dreadhorde Arcanist as well if your opponent doesn't seem to be running graveyard hate. Then when the time is right, play Claim on Dreadhorde Arcanist, play the Fame portion and you'll have a Haste, 3/3 with Trample but more importantly, the choice of 3 CMC spells. In Rakdos colors, that defaults to old faithful, Kolaghan's Command.
