Rakdos Minotaurs—A Few Unexpected Tricks

Standard* Aggro BR (Rakdos) Tribal

Sideboard

For a while I dropped this deck, but I traded for two Chandra, Pyromaster the other day and she not only smooths out the curve, but she makes the deck that much more devastating on turn 4. She is not usually found in this deck, but her synergy with Minos is fantastic. Other notable cards are Whip of Erebos and Hall of Triumph, both of which have worked well for me this far. Purphoros, God of the Forge is also not considered the usual god of the Minotaurs, but since I own him, and I don't own Mogis, God of Slaughter he fills the spot quite well and does considerable work. The rest would be expected from this deck.

One thought I have is to splash white for Mardu Ascendancy, but it's very consistent right now, and I don't want to ruin that. I also am wondering if Ulcerate is more effective than Magma Spray.

Mono-White Heroic Lifegain 2-0

I played against a mono white heroic deck centered around early game plays, protection, and lifegain, and I won twice. The first time t3 and t4 Ragemonger allowed two t4 Rageblood Shaman, which is a ridiculous finish. In Game 2, I overpowered him with Kragma Warcaller.

Abzan Outlast 2-0

This was too easy for my deck. Outlast is simply too slow to combat the creature count, and it happened that way in both games.

Mardu Midrange/Tokens: 1-2

These games were tougher. I lost game one to Butcher of the Horde in all essentiality. Game 2 I won with a Kragma Warcaller with a bestowed sideboard Herald of Torment to swing over his two non-flying tokens to eek out a win. Game 3 I wasn't getting any creatures, and even though I killed a Goblin Rabblemaster and Stain the Minded all his Butcher of the Horde, he quickly surmounted enough tokens to destroy me. Part of the issue in the last game was that I didn't know he was playing Elspeth, Sun's Champion, but they were great fast games.

It loses drastically to UB Control. No way around it.

Overall, the deck is playing pretty well. I might add in another Herald of Torment in the sideboard when I can get my hands on one.
