Started of with a prox 20 dollar mono green modern deck, Start was a little hard but this deck made me trample trough the lategame with ease due to lucky starting dicerolls and being able to set up my army without much of a problem. Hardest fight must have been against the flying spirits in the haunted mansion because I was not ready to fight flying creatures, and I couldnt completely swarm my enemy with creatures.

This is how my deck looked in the end, couldnt get to lvl 6 :(

RPG Green

Initially based of

Faster then Goblins, Bigger then Giants with a few changed ofcourse.

I enjoyed it a lot and may even restart a multicolored restricted control deck as in the end I didnt have games that lasted longer then 2 turns.

I loved it, not spoiling anything, but the story felt very free in which direction you wanted to push it towards the end.

On a completely unrelated note...Who else was stupid enough to open the door? Just me?

IronSeal says... #5

I timetravelled back in time to open it, bad idea xD

Also I found I enjoyed playing with different level rules a lot more. I let the character with the highest level gain prep time equal to the difference in prep time with the other character. For example when I was fighting a lvl 8 door and I am lvl 5. I would get 0 extra turns and the door 3.

The extra interaction I got during the fights this way, made the combat later in the game a lot more fun. ( Bosses become really hard though)

I setted game on easy and played with this typical mono-white soul mates deck. Elesh Norn, Nicol Bolas, Karn Liberated, Crovax and Liliana were very difficult opponents. Other didn't cause so much problems for me. I liked the game, but I am little disappointed, that there weren't included Kamigawa.

October 26, 2013 3:02 p.m.

don't worry , im working on a kamigawa expansion currently

Take your time and make it epic :)

Awesome! Although... playing with an infect deck was making it too easy. Great story line!

October 29, 2013 8:10 p.m.

I played my old extended tezzerator deck. Felt a bit weird to utterly destroy tezzeret with tezzeret... I had a ton of fun with this!

This game is awesome! But may I suggest that you give the players a ready-to-play deck? It's a bit hard and confusing to create a deck then adjust it because of what scrolls and items you get. +1 for the epic idea though. :D

The game looks good, but... is it just me using awful decks, or are the opponent decks (even Level 1) really strong? I mean, the fungus and the zombies in the swamps beat me in less than ten turns!

December 1, 2013 2:46 p.m.

Lee91 says... #15

Your deck is unable to win in less than 10 turns? Are you playing a Control deck or just an actual bad deck?

December 1, 2013 6:44 p.m.

VincentDuc says... #16

When I say 10 turns, I mean that each player took 5 turns.Anyway, yes, I'm using Control Decks. Maybe they are also bad.

The zombies and fungus of Urborg are amongst the weakest opponents you will face during the quest. Maybe they were lucky and got a super start, or maybe your deck is a bit weak. In that case, you can always fight to gain xp and get to level 2 or 3 earlier in the game, and you can fight to find items and gold to buy good items. Once your character is well equipped and has a few levels of experience, he should be fine :)
After Urborg, you'll meet planeswalker allies (you'll be able to put their cards in your deck). They are very powerful in a control deck, should give you a considerable boost.

Hey Askani28. I really like this game. I just have one question: how do you get out of urborg's marsh? I've been stuck there for 2 hours.

December 17, 2013 7:53 p.m.

Askani28 says... #19

Thanks Jrjersey01!
To get through Urborg's Marsh, you have to reach the sea and sail to Tolaria. The only way to reach the sea is to find the underground river underneath the Crovax Family Mansion. It's located North-East of the marsh. Check out the map to find your way.

That... That was a surprising amount of fun. Not particularly difficult, but the deck I was using is all about a quick crush. Mind you, once an opponent gets ahead I have next to no midgame, so the long games, or when the opponent had 3 or so extra prep turns. I had some trouble.

I spent most of the game using only Elixir of Immortality , except against bosses I suspected would be tough (and I had full life). Then, 5x Moonglove Extract ! Oh, Haha... looks like I could have 6 items. Self Handicap FTW!

In all seriousness, I had a lot of luck on my go first rolls, which helped me wreck shop. Once I hit level 3, if I went first, opponents rarely got a real turn. Even the BBEG died on the first Attack phase after prep. Swung for 29, he blocked 13, leaving him at 13, popped a Lightning Bolt up his cloaca then shoved 5 bottles of Moonglove love down his throat. (Yes, I spent all my money on no mana 2 damage sac potions, so sue me!) I was apparently on Easy difficulty I think, but oh well. I started with no sideboard, so that's neat at least.

Still, the early parts in the swamp were pretty scary, I rolled for the Swamp itself attacks like 7 times. Well played, evil swamp, well played. As an avid role player, I had a blast, and I've been out of MTG for quite some time. This was one of the last decks I played before I left the game. PloughedJester's Elementalist's Fury. I'm sure other similar versions of the deck exist, but this is my favorite version. (Koth of the Hammer wasn't originally in the deck, but he was too perfect to pass up) I wish there were mono-color planeswalker commanders, but maybe that would have been TOO easy. Koth is great and I need to add him for sure.

Also, maybe you could include in the original write-up that you're at least human in appearance, I kind of started with my character as a kobold... I later decided it was ok to retcon to a human on account of the super fun secrety stuff later in the story and just chalked it up as character development (Yes, if you haven't played, the story is good enough for your character development to include a drastic racial change if your RP imagination is open). Pretty good writing and twists all told.

I may replay at some point with a less aggressive deck. This one was fun, but just blew things to bits. Maybe something a bit more thought provoking, not ponderous, but strong in it's own right. Still, the RP imaginings of a planeswalker using this deck as spells, especially elementals that die right away, just felt like I was hurling small suns at my enemies... I so love mono-red.

Askani28 What difficulty a commander deck on this game would be?

Great Casual Deck! +1 From Me

It would be awesome if you would check out my elf deck Mono Green Elf Deck and see if you could give me any suggestions. I would love input from smart mtg players.

Soon...
A huge fan-made expansion will let you explore the plane of Shandalar...

Soon...
The Azorius Prefecture will be unlocked on Ravnica...
And the Rakdos Theater will be open too, if you somehow manage to get the right permit...
And a bit later, the Golgari Gorgon Garden expansion will also be available in the sewers of Ravnica.

Seriously though, the Rakdos Theater will be something. Ever wanted to play with a Rakdos budy and live to tell the tale? This is it. :)

Soon...

On my latest escapade I took my wacky RUG Standard deck, Sure, I'll Put My Genius on Hold for Awhile through and after a bit of level training on Dominaria I took my hard earned cash back to Ravnica and spent a large chunk of it getting that right permit to access the Rakdos Theater.

While I was there, I took a gander at the prize list and I thought to myself "Meh. Ok. Not bad. Already in my deck." Then down there at the bottom of the list was a particular trinket that made me as giddy as the day I found Omnislash on the Battle Square prize list in Final Fantasy 7.

I shall resist my urge to spoil said items, but I must say unto ye...Thank you, Askani28. You've made my QUEST MAGIC day.

Wow Emrakool, you've already seen the expansion? I just plugged it yesterday, didn't even announce it loll. Well, you're officially my new beta tester loll. :)

There's something I'd really like to know: when you play the Rakdos expansion, could you tell me how much points you make? Need a few feedback to adjust it if needed.
