Instant (2)

Hi friends,

Modern deck 2 is here, and I'm super stoked about this one, with a turn 4 win! Combo decks are only annoying if you're playing against one ;)

Win-con

Laboratory Maniac, aka The Boy. We're gonna play him and get rid of our library and win the game.

Getting rid of our library

Infinite Combo
Paradise Mantle + Puresight Merrow . This allows you to exile your entire deck with The Boy out, or to help you go through your deck to find a card that you need (The Boy).

Leveler straight up removes your library, so if your combo doesn't go off or gets removed, this still lets you win.

While we're talking infinite combo, Puresight Merrow + Judge of Currents = infinite life. Don't gotta worry about creatures or getting burned out when you have infinite life.

Drawing cards

Once we get The Boy out and exile our library, the only thing left to do is draw a card. We can wait until our next turn, but sometimes that will be too late. So here is the card draw:
-Serum Visions lets us draw for 1 and scry
-Remand is my favorite, wait until they play something, counter it and then win the game.

Tutoring

This deck has lots of ways for tutoring for the cards that we need
1. Paradise Mantle + Puresight Merrow . Lets you find literally any card in the deck.
2. Muddle the Mixture is not only a great counter but also lets you transmute for Puresight Merrow or a variety of protection cards.
3. Tolaria West lets you transmute for Paradise Mantle, plain and simple.
4. Drift of Phantasms is a fantastic blocker but also let's us transmute for The Boy.

Protecting our combo

This is the rest of the deck. We can't win if our creatures die, so we have to protect them. Here is the protection:
1. Judge's Familiar is better early game than late just because they can pay the 1.
2. Counters - Remand, Muddle the Mixture, and Turn Aside all counter removal.
3. Apostle's Blessing gives it protection from a color and makes it an effective blocker.
4. Dawn Charm regenerates the creature.

Utility

  1. Springleaf Drum is the best utility hands-down. Allows your creatures to tap for extra mana, and you can use it with Puresight Merrow to do some scrying, and it gets around haste.
  2. Dawn Charm regenerates creatures, is a useful fog, and also protects you from burn and discard.
  3. Chromatic Sphere for card draw and mana.
  4. Paradise Mantle for the combo as well as providing extra mana.

Sideboard

-Leyline of Sanctity - Effective against burn and discard/mill. Might throw in 2 more at some point.
-Hurkyl's Recall - Effective against affinity and cheerios, as well as 8-rack if I need to.
-Timely Reinforcements - Effective against burn, mid-range, and creature heavy decks.
-Ethereal Haze - Fogs that are effective against creature heavy decks.
-Path to Exile - Just in case there are some problematic creatures.

This deck will see it's first FNM on Friday, so updates will follow. Let me know what you think and if you have any tips or suggestions!

Updates Add

Deck did well after first FNM, but I was having some bad draws. Too make it more consistent and to improve my draw, I replaced the Chromatic Sphere with Serum Visions. The only time I used the sphere anyways was to draw with Laboratory Maniac out anyways, so might as well get more value.
