THE way to play a proliferate-themed deck in Pauper.™

I was trying to make this deck work a couple months ago, and when I saw the spoilers for War of the Spark I realised that I have been handed down a gift from Wizards. Shortly after, once I stumbled upon Bloodbriar , I knew for sure that I will be putting this deck together.

If you like creature-based, synergistic decks that are on the Aggro-to-Midrange end of the spectrum, then this deck might just be for you. That's right - you!

The Big WAR Boost

• Pollenbright Druid is a stricktly better version of all the Ironshell Beetle s out there. You heard that right: Strictly better!™ (Buy now!)

I personaly think that Ironshell Beetle , Timberland Guide , Kujar Seedsculptor , etc. are pretty decent already, however Pollenbright Druid is uncomparably better in this deck, as it is useful both early in the game and in the late game.

• Band Together is (almost always) a better Ambuscade , giving this deck a solid removal spell option. What I especially appreciate about it, is the fact that it is an instant. Sure, Rabid Bite is a solid card, but having an instant spell instead is very flexible for use alongside counterspells and Growth Spiral .
• While Bloom Hulk isn't essencial for this deck, it is more than a solid way to proliferate. A 4/4 for 4 mana with upside - nothing to scoff at, that's for sure.

The Bloodbriar Package

Bloodbriar fits well in this deck. Unlike his role in dedicated Bloodbriar decks, here you only really need Bloodbriar's sacrifice trigger to trigger once, becuase once it gets a +1/+1 counter it can then be grown with the magical effects of proliferation™.

The easiest way to sacrifice a permanent is with Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse , which many Pauper decks run anyway.

The current version of the deck doesn't have any other ways to trigger Bloodbriar , except for Ior Ruin Expedition - a landfall enchantment version of Divination , YAY!

What's that? You think it might not be worth running?

"Why not just play Divination ?"

Because the art is nice and Zendikar's flavor is cool, maybe?

Ok, well at the very least it's a synergistic way to trigger Bloodbriar that benefits from proliferating, and the 3 charge counters really aren't very hard to build towards. Just playing an Evolving Wilds and subsequently cracking it gets you 2/3 of the way there by itself.

Honestly I am not quite sure if Ior Ruin Expedition is worth running, I haven't yet tested the deck enough to be able to tell. It is a fun card to play, however. At least in my "humble" opinion.

Other Juicy Inclusions

• Servant of the Scale 's art looks like an idylic propaganda poster. Furthermore it is a strong card in this deck - it does all the things this deck wants to do, and it does them well. It's a proliferate-able creature, that you can play early. Playing it on turn 1 allows you to attack with it on turn 2, triggering the 'Bloodlust 1' on Skarrgan Pit-Skulk if you want to play him that turn. On top of that, it is hard for your opponent to remove, as this poster-child-soldier can Bioshift all his counters onto another creature you control post mortem. Science!
• Skarrgan Pit-Skulk . Hard to block. Stands on a pillar, menacingly. Carries sharp blades. He really is a win-condition by himself. Or rather, by himself and several +1/+1 counters (to be purchased separately). Truly a worthy pauper equivalent of Champion of Lambholt .
• Growth Spiral is here to compesate for the slowly fetching manabase, and also provides something very relevant to do at instant speed in case you uneventfully held up mana for a counterpell.
• Thrummingbird is pretty much the only continous source of proliferation triggers out there, which can be VERY powerful. Also it's 1/1 body can prove VERY fragile. To be sided out against decks with flyers.
• Artful Dodge is here as a finisher. Does your opponent have blockers? Is your battlefield infested with pesky creatures that keep getting in the way? Just use Artful Dodge ™ and walk right through them! Kills '99% (or less)' of opponents!

• Juvenile Gloomwidow is this deck's answer to flying creatures. It may look like a lowly spider at first glance, but don't forget: you can proliferate -1/-1 counters! Also getting some +1/+1 counters on the Gloomwidow somehow can make it a formidable, eight-legged force.

I haven't thouroughly tested this deck yet, and I am somewhat new to Pauper, so the sideboard (and perhaps even the mainboard) isn't 100% final. I welcome any advice or questions :)
