[[Primer]] Seton, Druid Goodness AER Update!

Commander / EDH Combo Competitive Elves Mono-Green Multiplayer Primer

LTmiller

I got into this deck whenever I acquired an almost complete legacy elves deck. I just love to play it so much. I thought what better way than to play it in the format I love most... EDH!!! I chose the commander that I did because of seeing its foil price spike go from $4.00 to $65.00 one week. I use an iPhone app called Mise Eyes and it shows the largest price spikes in an area called What's Shiny Hot. I was so baffled with how broken Seton, Krosan Protector could be. So the moment I saw him on What's Shiny Not I bought him. I bought all of them that TCGPlayer had in stock. I had to have him and no one else in my playgroup could. (Someone told me they'd buy all of them just so he could trade me. I wasn't okay with that.)

So I sat and brewed for a three days. On the third night a TCGPlayer order form was born. I bought everything I could in foil. If I didn't this would've never gotten built. I mean look at the price of Woodland Druid . No one is going to sell me just this guy, they'd be losing a lot of money. So when trying to find a seller that had a bunch of the cards I wanted didn't work, I moved to foil versions. They were enough to warrant the shipping and purchase minimum. Awesome!

It took me a few days to find the exact cards I wanted. Every card in the deck is in here for a reason. I need it to be fast and competitive (my meta is like all t1, t2 decks) but be fun enough to play with a t3 player.

CURRENTLY THE #1 Seton, Krosan Protector deck on TappedOut!!!

This deck may be for you if you like:

Playing an inordinate amount of creatures in one turn.

You like swarming the table and then Hoofing said table.

You like to swing for a TON of damage.

You like druids.

You like drawing twenty cards in one turn in not the bad colors. ()

You like fair magic.

This deck may not be for you if:

If you like to play one card and then play with yourself until it's your next turn.

Your only goal in life is Voltron.

You like to nickle and dime your opponents.

You like bad druids. (Wizards)

You like drawing one card a turn.

You think fair magic is overrated.

Forest It seems these are definitely the basics you're looking for in Mono Green.

Deserted Temple This land simply breaks Gaea's Cradle or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

Gaea's Cradle MANA. Period, nothing more to talk about.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx See above...

Reliquary Tower This is definitely an all star in this deck whenever I draw 10+ cards on turn three.

Thawing Glaciers This card with any manner of untapping lands is super good. Not great early game but there is tons of land destruction in my meta. See combos for more busted narrative.

To save everyone some considerable headache of having to read 'It's a druid' over and over, we're going to cover notable creatures in this deck.

Stone-Seeder Hierophant Untaps the lands.

Baru, Fist of Krosa This guys a druid that pumps the team whenever a Forest comes into play. He's very useful if we can't get to a large beatstick.

Chameleon Colossus This guy, sheesh. Well, let's start with--you guessed it--he's a druid! This guy forces your opponents to block or die most of the time. A creature that Berserks without having to be sacrificed and PRO is awesome as is a huge removal color.

Craterhoof Behemoth G-G. 'Nuff said.

Elvish Harbinger Goes and fetches Gilt-Leaf Archdruid most of the time.

Elvish Piper Remember what I said about earlier? Well, if he loses summoning sickness, he gets gross. Yeah, I'll take an uncounterable Craterhoof Behemoth for .

Fierce Empath Go get Regal Force.

Ley Druid is a Deserted Temple that doesn't die to Wasteland or Strip Mine.

Kaysa is a nice little anthem, that's also a druid.

Nantuko Cultivator once drew me seven cards... Yeah. He good.

Nantuko Mentor He's similar to Berserk so that's cool... and fun with Overwhelming Stampede.

Primordial Sage Draw all the cards.

Soul of the Harvest Draw even more cards.

Gilt-Leaf Archdruid Draw two new hands? Yes. And, steal all da lands!

Regal Force Just go ahead, pick up half your library.

Woodland Druid Now, read that flavor text. Do it again. The inuendo is real...

Alhammarret's Archive is there to give us even more card advantage.

Expedition Map goes and gets our busted lands.

Sol Ring C'mon. This needs no explanation.

Mana Crypt New addition that is really awesome!

Paradox Engine let's abuse it while we can!!!

Planar Bridge Testing this out now, and so far it seems okay, it's kinda like having a second copy of Craterhoof Behemoth... Which is obviously stupid good.

Lifecrafter's Bestiary This is really just a worse Glimpse of Nature but we're gonna test it!

Reap and Sow Goes and gets our lands which are ridiculously important.

Collective Unconscious, Glimpse of Nature , and Shamanic Revelation all draw a ton of cards.

Mobilize is a slower version of Vitalize . It makes all your dudes untap to make mana, combo more, or get them ready to make everyone else suffer.

Sylvan Tutor <- in the name. Tutor.

Overrun,Overwhelming Stampede, and Triumph of the Hordes are GG.

Sylvan Scrying to go get that land that we need. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is number one priority. Gaea's Cradle is number two, number three is Deserted Temple

Green Sun's Zenith Because tutors are good, but going to get a Craterhoof Behemoth and put it directly into play is better.

Natural Order is just bananas. It wins the game if it's ressolved. Go get Craterhoof Behemoth

Avoid Fate counters a bounce spell most of the time. It's green, we don't do this very well.

Beast Within Destroy the precious.

Chord of Calling Let's go get the Force or the Hoof!

Crop Rotation to go get that good-good and put her in play.

Vitalize so good. Makes, "Oh you're tapped out, attack!" not exist. See Mobilize above.

Worldly Tutor got get our nice things.

Exploration Play extra lands. What green does best.

Beastmaster Ascension This card has been in testing for awhile. It's so broken and powerful.

Really and truly, no matter what deck you play against this deck will play almost the exact same way every time. You don't want to keep a hand of Gaea's Cradle or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and nothing else land wise ever. Ideally you want a land and some sort of one drop dude that makes mana or two lands and someone that makes mana.
Seton, Krosan Protector needs to come into play as early as possible. He will allow your turns to be much more explosive.
Turn 3-4 at the latest. Any further and we can get beat out really easily. At this point you wanna get a card draw engine online and steamroll your opponents with said engine. Turn 4 ideally should be Mid Game.
Turn 5-6. You kill your opponents this turn through any number of GG cards. Craterhoof Behemoth, Overrun, Overwhelming Stampede, Triumph of the Hordes.
Paradox Engine... This card is broken sideways! This combos with our whole deck. ESPECIALLY, when we have a card draw engine going!

Updates Add

Planar Bridge proved too slow--Mana Crypt is taking its place. Fast mana is good mana.

Nantuko Disciple and Mentor are becoming Chrome Mox and Lotus Petal. Because I never really use them, they are just cantrips, so I'd rather have three mana and a possibility of a T1 commander.

Stone-Seeder Hierophant is becoming Umbral Mantle, because I can stand to drop the avg. cmc some, and she doesn't do anything without a bunch of ways to abuse land drops, while Sword of the Paruns, which is taking the place of Alhammaret's Archive, and Mantle can allow me to generate infinite mana.

Squirrel Wrangler, Nut Collector, Reliquary Tower, Thawing Glaciers are all becoming Fetch Lands.

Centaur duo cut for Eldritch Evolution and Mox Diamond.

Rishkar's Expertise seems better than Collective Unconscious.
