As soon as I saw Carnage Tyrant, I had to have him. A big green card that says "F" you? That's what I'm all about baby. I was considering going mono-green but red has a lot of good to offer this deck, so Gruul it is!
I've tested this deck quite a bit and I've gotten the perfect start several times, picture this:
Turn 1: Sheltered Thicket
Turn 2: Rootbound Crag, Drover of the Mighty
Turn 3: Land, Otepec Huntmaster and a Lightning Strike or Commune with Dinosaurs or what have you. Obviously Ripjaw Raptor is great here as well.
Turn 4: A lot of crazy shit can happen here, with a drover and huntmaster out you can play Carnage Tyrant and give it haste...that's tough for your opponent to come back from. Other possibilities are Regisaur Alpha or even Ghalta, Primal Hunger!
These types of starts are very consistent for this deck. I love it! I wanna build it!
