The deck is based around
Merfolk Thaumaturgist
with Twisted Image as a back-up. The deck revolves around building the toughness of unblockable creatures and switching their power and toughness for some heavy hits.
According to rulings by WOTC "Effects that switch power and toughness apply after all other effects that change power and/or toughness, regardless of which effect was created first."
As an added step you can buff the toughness of
Auriok Bladewarden
and then switch its power/toughness and tap it to give another creature a big X/X boost to improve survivability.
Power/Toughness switching also has the added bonus of Serendib Sorcerer for some spot killing of the opponent's creatures.
Puppeteer
was added because of all the creature tapping abilities that are present in the deck.
With all the auras in the deck, Kor Spiritdancer only made sense for card advantage and becoming beefy.
There is also a potential for a turn two win with
Tireless Tribe
and Twisted Image:
Turn 1: Plains +
Tireless Tribe
Turn 2: Island + Twisted Image
Then discard your hand and swing for 21 (25 if you go second). Without knowing the combo and the instant speed, your opponent will likely leave
Tireless Tribe
unblocked.
