I'm still not sure how I feel about the new Admiral Beckett Brass.

I want to love pirates, I do. But I don't know that this is going to do enough for the tribe to be worth building around.

We need to attack with 3 or more creatures (and deal damage) to take advantage of our commander's ability. As such we need ways to defend ourselves on the attack AND on the following opponent's turns. Things like Dolmen Gate and Paradox Engine fall into this category. The gate allows us to swing without fear of dying to blockers and the engine allows us to untap our attackers. Deterring attacks also helps with cards like Propaganda and Crawlspace doing some work.

Obviously plenty of ways to make our pirates unblockable will be needed as well. Rogue's Passage, Thassa, God of the Sea and Cover of Darkness are what I have so far.

It would seem an "artifacts matter" theme is in play with treasure tokens. With all the treasure creation I added Hellkite Tyrant as a backup wincon along with the new Revel in Riches. So to sum up: Play Pirates, Attack, Win... Its as simple as it gets. Board wipes are going to be devastating unless we have decent draw power since protection and reanimation are at a low here.

Right now three things are happening. Pirate Swarm and Raid Triggers, ETB Effect Abuse, and Artifact Matters are all happening here to varying degrees. Should I focus more on one or the others? Should I drop some artifact love to make room for flicker effects? Should I go hard on the artifact matters love? How are you building Capt. Crunch's mom?
