This deck is all circled around one devotion card:
Gray Merchant of Asphodel
.
When building the deck, zombie synergy was a easy option so I followed the trend and ended with this. I am trying to keep the deck relatively budget - 100$ give or take. The most expensive is the
Relentless Dead
.
Here is a list of certain cards and why I included them:
Dread Shade
- As one of the 2 non-zombie I chose to include this creature as it is one of the best for devotion. It contributes 3 to devotion while also being a mana-hole when you have nothing else to cast.
Erebos's Titan
- As the second of the 2 non-zombie cards, I choose this as a big 4-drop that still contributes massively to devotion. In addition, depending on the match-up, it can be recurred.
Dark Prophecy
- This card is great. Likely, enchantment removal won't be as common so if the board is wiped, this card draws us cards AND stays for devotion later on.
Graf Harvest
- This is the least necessary in the deck. Currently, it serves as a 1 drop that adds devotion and evasion. Likely the first card to be side boarded.
Foulmire Knight
- 1-drop that slows ground attacks. Has great utility for late game card draw. Feel free to play
Cryptbreaker
if you have a large budget.
Dread Wanderer
is an ok option but lacks card draw which I feel is more necessary.
Relentless Dead
- When leaning into zombie tribal, this is the best card in the deck. Turn 2, this is a card that has 2 devotion, evasion, AND recursion for it and other zombies. Utterly terrific.
Death Baron
and
Risen Executioner
- Both are zombie lords that contribute 2 to devotion. Turn 3 and Turn 4 drops respectively.
Graveyard Marshal
- Serves as 2 drop zombie redundancy that adds 2 devotion. Also has an utility in a pinch
Murderous Rider
- Serves as removal in this deck while good for devotion when there is nothing to target.
Never/Return
is a good budget option.
