- 2x Consuming Aberration
- 2x Hover Barrier
- 2x Murmuring Phantasm
- 3x Phenax, God of Deception
- 4x Wall of Frost
This U/B deck tries to take advantage of the recently spoiled Phenax, God of Deception's ability to mill.
The deck is meant to play defenders with high toughness along with various removal and counter spells to stabilize the board. The defenders will be able to mill the opponent for a lot of cards using Phenax's ability.
Consuming Aberrations are added to finish the opponent with damage or by milling in the late game.
Suggestions are welcome!
You should really consider Triton Tactics . I know it's on your Maybeboard, but, consider it hard.

This is pretty much my EXACTLY my FNM deck, and I very much appreciate this. I chose to leave Triton tactics out, as I prefer cheap removal cards like Dimir Charm , which works wonders. Heavily recommend.

Thanks for the suggestion Eduardogbg. I think the extra devotion from Wall of Frost will be helpful. I put in one more Wall of Frost in the main board and I added two Hover Barrier to the sideboard for decks with many flyers.

Your only win condition seems to be Phenax, God of Deception so you might consider upping him to a 4 of. Draw might also be helpful for you, 2 more Pilfered Plans . or possibly Underworld Connections , to help with devotion. Maybe even Diabolic Tutor , to find your Phenax.
Triton Tactics really does seem like a solid card. With Phenax in play I can only imagine it ending games. Even if you only have Murmuring Phantasm s on the board. Opponents end step, or attack step, tap and mill them for 5 x 2, triton tactics, block, and tap down again to mill this time for (5+3) x 2, and then mill again after your untap for anotehr 5 x 2, for a total of 36 cards milled. The free untap it provides is going to generate a lot of mill.

ericellis I like the idea of adding more Pilfered Plans for card draw and Triton Tactics for mill, but I am having a tough time deciding which cards to remove from the mainboard to make space. It would be great if you could provide me with more feedback :)

I'd consider moving Hover Barrier to your side board. You should have enough removal to deal with their fliers. And if a deck is heavy on fliers, Ashiok can help you find some chump blockers and buy you time. Thoughtseize can help make sure you aren't overwhelmed with fliers.
Codex Shredder , while a neat card, I think requires more self-mill to really shine. As a one of, if you even draw it, it's not likely to even mill 10 cards. Granted it's free milling, but it won't get the job done alone, it still relies on Phenax for finish. I think Triton Tactics could enjoy that spot, because with Phenax out, if you hit the 1 of, it'll make a real difference. And without Phenax around, it helps buy you a turn or two of defense.
There are a lot of cards that decks like this want, I think Cyclonic Rift might be able to move to sideboard, or possibly out. You're playing black, so the tempo doesn't seem as useful as Doom Blade , but your removal is already pretty strong between Thoughtseize and Hero's Downfall , I might switch the Cyclonic Rift for 2 more Triton Tactics .

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver doesn't work well with Consuming Aberration . For every card you remove with Askiok, your aberration becomes less powerful. I would suggest taking out Ashiok and Codex Shredder and putting another Jace, Memory Adept and some Mind Grind or + for a more effective mill.
I also agree with most of the stuff ericellis said. And I'm gonna copy your summary idea for a moment. I'm not a fan of removing Hover Barrier because then you'll catch that one guy that has a ton of flying and you're screwed. Maybe take out 1 Wall of Frost for a little more space.
