The Locust God - The Eighth Plague

Commander / EDH* UR (Izzet)

chadjshonk

This is brand new obviously but may be the grossest deck I own.

Use mana rocks to get The Locust God quickly then draw as many cards as I can using the most efficient ways possible, (Wheel of Fortune / Winds of Change / Timetwister type effects) then kill everybody real fast before they realize how ridiculously powerful this card is.

Deck currently is set so that out of the 91 cards I start with after my opening hand that I will draw a Wheel/Winds/Twister effect approximately every six cards.

To fight this deck, kill The Locust God. Even if you can't exile it, just kicking it back to my hand will set me back a turn. Because if I untap with it, with 6 or 7 mana up, I would guess I'm at least 50% to win the game that turn. So don't let me do that.

Win Cons:

1) Kill with a couple dozen flying insect tokens pumped by the red Craterhoof Behemoth, Shared Animosity.

2) Burn them to death with Goblin Bombardment or Fateful Showdown or Throne of the God-Pharaoh.

3) Mana Echoes plus Stroke of Genius or Fall of the Titans.

4) With Kindred Discovery, the deck goes infinite, drawing out my entire deck. In order for that to be okay, I would need something like Psychosis Crawler (and have more cards than they have life) or win with Laboratory Maniac. If I was in a more combo-heavy meta maybe I would, but my current playgroup doesn't love people going infinite, especially if it involves using your commander. But I keep a copy of Kindred Discovery and Laboratory Maniac in my binder in case I find myself in spikier waters.

A few other Key Cards:

Arjun, the Shifting Flame / Mindmoil - They draw you so many cards.

Treasonous Ogre - Can be used to make sure I don't run out of mana when I go off. I hate drawing into a wheel but being a mana or two shy. This makes it where you won't have to stop until you run out of spells. Or life.

Memory Jar / Magus of the Jar - Cast Jar. Untap. Cast The Locust God. 7 creatures at instant speed whenever you need them.

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth - Never to cast. But that shuffle effect is exactly what this deck needs. Wish they'd print it on a card that wasn't an Eldrazi.

Sakashima the Impostor - A must for blue commanders with triggered abilities, IMO.

Tolaria West - Simply a second copy of Reliquary Tower because Reliquary Tower is that important.

Mind Stone / Commander's Sphere / Izzet Cluestone - Rocks that you can cash in for cards. And by cards I mean creatures.

took out Phyrexian Altar

it was just too gross

running Treasonous Ogre as a compromise

a source of mana to go off with but not virtually infinite like with the altar
