My take on a Mostly-White Heroic build for Penny Dreadful. The basic game plan is to get out
Phalanx Leader
, a few other creatures, then buff everyone by targeting your Leader. Still in development.
Reasons for each card in mainboard:
Phalanx Leader
-- the inspiration for this deck.
Akroan Skyguard
-- flying is a useful evasion tactic
Fabled Hero
-- a 2/2 doublestriker for 3 is good. A 2/2 doublestriker with heroic is better
Favored Hoplite
-- For those situations that you don't start with a tapland. Also has decent stats/abilities
Topan Freeblade
-- a 2 drop 2/2 with vigilance is nice. Fits good on the curve
Vanguard of Brimaz
-- can literally create an army for you
Ajani's Presence -- Protects your creatures and triggers heroic
Artful Maneuver
-- a decent combat trick that triggers heroic 2 turns in a row
Emerge Unscathed -- protection and heroic trigger 2 turns in a row
Prey Upon -- semi-removal that triggers heroic. The only downside is that it's a sorcery
Selesnya Charm -- can trigger heroic, get rid of a powerful threat, or create a blocker
Reason for each card in sideboard:
Banisher Priest -- A good add-in for when you need more creature-removal
Center Soul
-- Useful against burn/MBC type decks that want to target your creatures with spells
Mighty Leap
-- Mainly because I had this in the mainboard at one point; still useful against decks with lots of flyers
Naturalize -- Good against affinity-like builds or other decks that rely on artifacts/enchantments to win
