Pauper Warrior Exert

Pauper Pauper RW (Boros) Tribal

Inspired by Always Watching + exert decks currently in standard, this deck utilizes the fact that most creatures with exert at common are also warriors with Herald of Dromoka. Help is appreciated.

This is a beautiful deck. +1

I really really really like this deck. It inspire me to make myself a Warrior Exert Vigilance Deck :DIt's cheap and cards work well with each other. That's a great Deck.

I am not sure if this card helps or not Piety Charm. It's the only other card I could find that acted like Herald of Dromoka.

Thanks to all for the feedback of this deck. I did not expect to get any response for it!

CrimsonRum: Piety Charm is a little slow for what the deck wants. Thanks for the suggestion though.

First of all, excellent deck and awesome idea that definitely deserves an upvote! Fantastic job! I just wanted to know yours thoughts on Marshaling Cry in your deck? It gives you the opportunity to give all your creatures (most notably for your exert creatures) a +1/+1 boost as well as vigilance for more consistancy up to 2 times. Furthermore, it gives you the option to cycle when you don't need it's effect.

Titanofeternalfirescry1: Good find. I originally dismissed it, as I valued the lifelink on Rush of Battle to be more valuable than the one time vigilance, but your point about cycling it when unneeded makes me reconsider it. I'll definitely give it a shot. Thanks!

Nice find Titanofeternalfirescry1 I was using Piety Charm, but Marshaling Cry is just way better.

Yeah, after play-testing it, Marshaling Cry helps the deck a lot with consistency. I'm hoping for some new exert commons in Hour, but the theme does not seem hopeful for an exert return.

Oketra's Avenger much?

only_the_finest: I have been planning to add Oketra's Avenger, but haven't found the time to make cuts for it. Thanks.

Rinth Maybe cut the Nef-Crop Entangler?

only_the_finest I had s=considered cutting the Rhet-Crop Spearmasters since in my experience of playing they just always got chump blocked anyway. Oketra's Avenger would just be a cheaper version of that. However this might give the deck too many 2 drops.

If you have vigilance . exert dont apply the untap debuff? its a new mechanic for me in pauper. i appreciate an answer !

Morferus, That us correct. Exert states that the creature doesn't untap during your next untap setp, but vigilance keeps cards from tapping when attacking. When the untap step comes around, exerting keeps the card from untapping, but since the creature is already untapped, that clause is irrelevant. The interaction lets you exert the creature but still have the creature untapped during your next turn.

Hi, interesting idea, but i think this deck really stands on Herald of Dromoka. So maybe i would add some buffing instants which untap creature like Veteran's Reflexes or Djeru's Resolve. And maybe you can put there even Keldon Marauders, they can attack twice with that haste guy + they are warriors.

Village Bell-Ringer?

Also, how important is Bloodlust Inciter

Hyperalgialysis, If Brave the Sands is ever print in a masters set at common, it would be a huge buff to the deck. Not only would it add consitancy to the deck, it would allow us to play one of the be common exert creatures, Gust Walker more reliably. Though with all the pseudo-vigilance related things being suggested recently (Thanks by the way), how would the deck play without the warrior theme and instead, focusing more on other ways to untap the creatures? Personally, I believe that playing the one time effects won't help enough with consistency, and the Herald of Dromoka and Marshaling Crys are stronger overall, even of the cute exert untapping doesn't work every time.

only_the_finest, Bloodlust Inciter is either one of the worst or best cards in the deck. If played turn 1, it can lead to very explosive starts, but drawn late game it is horrible. I am not hugely attached to it, but it makes the deck feel more like an aggro deck then a mid-rangy deck. So I think its justified for now.

To better address the complaints that the deck leans on Herald, maybe you should put in pieces to protect / recur her?
