The deck is an Izzet infinite Combo deck, which kills on turn 5 when undisrupted the majority of the time, and ranging from anywhere between turn 3 (which needs 3 Lotus petals) and turn 7 (where you miss on one piece) in the remaining cases.

The Combo involves: Zephyr Scribe/ Nettle Drone + Elusive Spellfist/ Nettle Drone + Banishing Knack/Retraction Helix + Lotus Petal/ Herbal Poultice To create an infinitely large Elusive Spellfist or ping them infinitely with Nettle Drone .

The combo pieces are:
1. Zephyr Scribe or Nettle Drone , with Zephyr Scribe being the better of the two on its own, though Drone can fill another role.
2. Retraction Helix or Banishing Knack, which are functionally identical.
3. Elusive Spellfist or Nettle Drone , with Elusive Spellfist being better the majority of the due to the extra toughness, though Nettle Drone can again fill another role.
4. Lotus Petal or Herbal Poultice . Honestly Herbal Poultice kind of sucks, but Tormod's Crypt isn't legal on mtgo pauper, so it's the second best 0 cost artifact after Lotus Petal.

I feel this version is better than the mono Blue version because it makes better use of brainstorm with more fetch effects, has access to Pyroblast out of the board, and the addition of Nettle Drone makes the creature side of things much more consistent.

The printing of Nettle Drone got me to change this deck around a bit. The fact that it's a redundant part of two parts of the combo makes it a really likely include. since I was already running 6 Evolving Wilds effects, I've decided to change up the deck and go up to the full 8 plus a Mountain. I've also changed up the sideboard somewhat to make fuller use of the red splash and added 4 Pyroblast. I think this change is for the better. Since making it the deck has preformed a full turn faster undisrupted, despite feeling slower with the increased number of wilds.
