Panhamonicon Infinite Combo (R.I.P. the Dream)

Standard* Combo Control Infinite Combo W/U (Azorius)

Firebones675

Description

2 copies of Felidar Guardian can infinitely flicker each other. If you throw in a Panharmonicon you get a bonus flicker that can be used on something else. With Eldrazi Skyspawner for example, you get infinite scion tokens. Doing it with Cloudblazer can draw your entire deck.

I experimented with having a Pious Evangel  Flip or two in the list to gain infinite life (2 guardians+ pious evangel goes infinite without needing Panharmonicon). Ultimately I decided not to run it as most games I was unhappy to draw it early and only wanted after I got my combo going to gain infinite life and threaten to drain my opponent out once flipped. The problem is once I've drawn my library (to stock my hand with counterspells) and created infinite tokens, the infinite life was pretty redundant and since it usually entered the field the turn I went off I couldn't kill them with it until next turn anyway so I might as well swing with my army of scion tokens.

I also messed around with Eldrazi Displacer and while it did work out decently in the deck I reverted back to the current build. In a lot of games I am just a control deck rather than a combo deck and I like displace better for getting value. You can also chain displaces when you cast a gearhulk unlike a displacer.

Updates

All right that's it! I got salty when Reflector Mage got banned but fine, they gave me Felidar Guardian so i didn't complain too much. Now the're banning that one too. This is the second time a card was banned from my standard deck because it was too good in a dominant deck. I'm not trying to break the meta here, I just want weird jank and to have fun.

I do want to say that WOTC was it a bad spot though. People were gonna be pissed whether they banned it or didn't, can't please everyone all the time, totally get it. HOWEVER, this happened only a couple days after they said their would be no further standard bans. Over the last months they said their wasn't enough data to justify it but 3 days later they did a 180 and gave an emergency ban. What's the point of having set ban dates if you're not going to follow them. Many people saw felidar didn't get the ban which prompted them to buy the deck to immediately get blindsided.

Yeah I can just go back to Wispweaver Angel s but that's not the point. With this many bans so fast ( and no emergency bans too) whats the point of going out and getting cards for a new deck. Judging by the past couple months one can only assume that bans might keep coming so what's the point.

I'm giving up on standard. I had fun while it lasted but just doesn't seem worth it anymore.

nolio36, I am aware of that combo however as I said in the description I decided not to the displacer. When I was testing with it, I felt Displace worked just as well while being able to be targeted with gearhulk. This deck functions more of a control deck with the potential to go infinite rather than one that requires the combo. It's fun to go off, but i'd rather have enough dedicated slots to countermagic rather than the drowner/displacer.
