I added:

Geth's Verdict, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Venser, Shaper Savant and Riptide Laboratory to the deck.

I removed:

Arcane Denial - giving my opponent card advantage wasn't worth it

Swat - the ability to kill a small creature or draw a card wasn't all that great anyway.

Gitaxian Probe - did give me good information about my opponent but decided that the card draw it offered really wasn't that great.

Alright Palinchron has been added to the deck along with Peregrine Drake along with a few others.

I would drop Manalith and Darksteel Ingot for Gilded Lotus and Thran Dynamo .

Other changes:

Drop:

  1. Arcane Denial - Having a cheap counterspell is not worth giving your opponent card advantage.
  2. Brainstorm - This card isn't very good in EDH.
  3. Rewind - It isn't really a "free" counterspell when you have to keep 4 mana open to use it.
  4. Swat - Too expensive considering it doesn't a wide range of relevant creatures.
  5. Think Twice - This card doesn't really do anything for you.
  6. Thought Scour - See above.
  7. Ponder - This card isn't good in EDH.
  8. Preordain - See above.
  9. Gitaxian Probe - See above.
  10. Diabolic Revelation - You don't really have the support necessary to cast this for value.
  11. Spreading Seas - This doesn't seem useful enough. You could easily use LD instead.
  12. Transguild Promenade - When you only have two colors in your deck, having to pay 1 to play a gold land tapped is pretty bad.
  13. Draining Whelk - It's just an expensive counterspell.

If you're dedicated to the combo approach, you should go all in on it. Add cards like Capsize and Venser, Shaper Savant for more win conditions with infinite mana. Use Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to lock your opponents out. Tezzeret the Seeker can find and untap mana rocks. Necropotence , Rhystic Study , and Mystic Remora all offer more draw power.

Thanks Epochalyptik I clearly have much to think over. There is one I really want to keep though: Draining Whelk . While it is expensive, once its out, its a reusable counterspell for 2 mana with Deadeye Navigator . I guess I'll need to work on the draw spells though, I haven't really gotten to play against many competitive EDH decks so your insights help a lot thanks.

If you're familiar enough with my deck (Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition), you can try playtesting against that.

Draw power is extremely important in EDH, especially when you want to have control options and don't have the acceleration of green. If you cut the cards I mentioned, you'll have room for some draw engines and better utility cards.

I have a commander deck using Dralnu, Lich Lord and I've found that Magebane Armor is amazing for him. It will deny all global or direct damage effects so nothing will ruin your day.
