Maybeboard

This deck idea developed from a mere random browse on scryfall one day. I came upon this card, Kormus Bell. Make all my lands creatures and easy to kill I think, why would I want to play this card I say. But then, this idea (though I later realized it was already recognized) came to me. There is a certain land that makes everybody's lands swamps. Lets kill everybody's lands, and maybe prepare mine so they don't die when certain combos are arranged.

Shout out to Commander's Brew for the inspiration to brew decks outside the box! Check em out on youtube if you get the chance. Real funny and they always bring awesome deck ideas. Sorry I couldn't fit this one in the budget guys (it orginally was intended to be a cheap janky deck but I saw a lot of potential and just had to brew it to its max)

So then the "magic" happens and the brain neurons are firing off, lets control this game with a janky comboKormus Bell + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth Kill every land with cards like Stronghold Taskmaster , Night of Souls' Betrayal, etc.and maybe protect our swamps with cards like Hall of Triumph or Caged Sun. If we can't save our lands, we have alternative means to stay on our feet while everyone is hurting without any mana. This deck originally was supposed to be a janky fun goofy deck. But the more I explored, the more I wanted to turn it into something somewhat competitive. The root I decided to take to execute this little scheme of mine was through the recursion of artifacts. Lets mill ourselves like crazy to find the cards we need.

This reason I chose Silas Renn, Seeker Adept as my commander is because he has an awesome ability of being able to recur artifacts from our graveyard. Instead of trying to draw cards in hand, milling to the graveyard became the focus. It is a much cheaper way of beating the system. Cards such as Glimpse the Unthinkable which cost dimir dumps ten cards from the top of your deck into your graveyard.

So what if we accidentally dump our Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth into the graveyard. Lets get a Crucible of Worlds out to play it no problem. This deck is built to be both active and reactive. And Silas Renn, Seeker Adept has the perfect ability to utilize the synergy of the cards in the deck.

One fun synergy I found with the combo while I was brewing this deck was Deathbringer Liege. First, this will protect our "Swamp" lands from being destroyed when the combo is initiated. But lets say our opponents find some way to buff their lands to have a little more power than the 1 dmg or -1/-1 we plan to kill everything with. Well, this card pretty much says that when my turn comes back around and you choose to tap your lands for mana, I will kill them when I play black spells.

One thing I would also like to point out. I am not running a high amount of tutors. Just a few to try and keep some consistency. My personal preference, I am not a huge fan of tutors, because they tend to always grab the same pieces of the combo puzzle.

And yes, Expedition Map will grab Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth 90% of the time. That is what the deck was built around. But when the scenario calls for an alternative, say a Mirage Mirror is in play, lets grab that Dark Depths! Because Mirage Mirror isn't a broken card or anything...

To help with consistency, I replaced:

Marshal's Anthem with Dread Return - If i have Kormus Bell + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth , sac three swamps to return one of the creatures to finish off the combo, seems pretty good especially when it says "sac 3 swamps, destroy all lands, opponents can't play lands for the rest of the game"

Open the Vaults with Mesmeric Orb - Awesome card to help with milling myself, mills other people as well which is both a pro and con, I may consider running Nihil Spellbomb to assist with this so others can't benefit from the effect

Read the Runes with Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur - Gives me just as many cards as Read the Runes but is more oppressive for my opponents and is a valid target for any of my recursion spells.

Hall of Triumph with Trinket Mage - I don't care anymore if my lands die as a result to my combo, I'd rather have Trinket Mage to find solid mana rocks or find Expedition Map if need be.

To help with slowing down my opponents, I replaced:

Pestilence with Winter Orb - Not much to say other than that we will not be hurt too much by this because of our artifact ramp; our opponents, well this will probably be pretty annoying to deal with.

Deathbringer Liege with Strip Mine - Deathbringer Liege added flavor to the combo, but it is a little too slow. Strip Mine is more reliable, can't be countered, and can be recurred with Crucible of Worlds.

Nausea with Armageddon - Same effect as Nausea in the end for its intentions, though it may not give creatures -1/-1, it doesn't rely on the combo to do the same effect. It also sets everyone back but we should be able to keep playing unaffected by it
