Orzhov's Healing Touch

Modern* Lifegain WB (Orzhov)

StormedWolf

Sideboard

Hey everyone,

This was the first deck I made after getting into magic, and so far it's been my most successful. Thanks to help from the community here and after about a month of playtesting, the deck as it appears here is pretty much in it's final state.

The deck relies mostly upon Trading Post + Angelic Accord and Festering Newt + Bubbling Cauldron, all combined with Sanguine Bond in order to accomplish some decent lifegain along with respectable damage.

Updates Add

Hey everyone, it's been a while again, but I'm back here with this deck again to make a few changes. The first is the addition of the sideboard.

As far as the content of the sideboard goes, here's the thought process.

  • Zarichi Tiger was added to make the creature presence of the deck a bit stronger in cases where it would be needed.

  • Trained Caracal was added for much the same reason as Zarichi Tiger, but as a cheaper creature, basically a cheaper, smaller Child of Night.

  • Font of Vigor is essentially a health safety net. If it gets played early on, it can be sacrificed later once Sanguine Bond is in play for some decent damage, or if you're low on health and need to turn the tide of the game, a backup heal for not much mana.

  • Pacifism was removed from the main deck and placed in the sideboard, and may leave forever, but is still in as decent removal

  • Divine Favor was taken out of the mainboard and gone from several iterations of the deck, but I felt it synergized nicely with the larger creatures like Oreskos Sun Guide and now Zarichi Tiger. This with the added benefit of Sunbond gives the potential for some large creatures if/when I need them.

  • Ultimate Price feels a bit weird in the sideboard. It's far from the best black removal, and has it's limitations, but if I'm going up against black decks, the 2 Doom Blades won't be useful, so they'll at least get supplemented here.

  • Cruel Feeding is going to be my first venture into the Strive mechanic added in Journey Into Nyx. I don't really like the principle of it, even using the card on one creature as a +1/+0 and lifelink is worth one mana. It may leave if I find better cards, and may allow for more creatures in the sideboard, but we shall see.

Now for a little begging from you guys. I feel like this deck is pretty decent for a budget deck, but I really want to make this a little more competitive. I would really appreciate some suggestions for combos, as well as just general deck tips, or maybe your take on how I should go about playing the deck.

Any advice I get is awesome, so thanks in advance for anything you all can pull together.
