The ooze! THE OOZE!

I loved playing mono-green aggro so much pre-rotation that about a month before it rotated I decided to put together a list that I could keep playing. This is the result of that effort.

The deck works from an angle unlike the other aggro decks in the format. Rather than going all out and trying to win by turn 5, this list plays creatures which are extremely resilient to removal and sweepers and tries to overwhelm the opponent with constant damage. As such, Predator Ooze is one of the feature cards, as it always wins combats and grows with each attack. Strangleroot Geist and Vorapede use undying to stick around, and Wolfir Avenger has regenerate. Yeva, Nature's Herald gives all of my creatures Flash, helping to get around sorcery-speed removal and flash in Wolfir Silverheart during combat or in response to a burn spell. Deadbridge Goliath is out of burn range and gives some reach from the graveyard in the late game after a sweeper.

I went up against a bunch of control last night. I'm really satisfied with how the deck performed post-board.

Round 1: Mono-Black Exalted - W(2-1) - He resolved a Mutilate in game 2. That card is pretty much a hose for my deck. Bleh.

Round 2: 4-Color Reanimator - W(2-1) - This is why run 3 Tormod's Crypt! :) Won Game 3 on turn 4.

Round 3: U/W/R Control - W(2-1) - I boarded hard against this one. Thragtusk, Garruk Relentless  Flip, Ranger's Guile, Silklash Spider, and Triumph of Ferocity all came in. It worked. ;)

Round 4: Intentional draw into Top 8.

Top 8

Round 5: Bant Control - W(2-1) - Similar deal to Round 3.

Round 6: U/W/R Control - W(2-0) - Sided the same as I did in Round 3. I drew a bunch of gas and answers in Game 2 to close it out.

Round 7: Split the final.

Overall record: 5-0-2
