Presentation

My only "competitive" deck has always been Eggs, i really like the mecanism and i find it interesting to play. But i stopped Magic 2 years ago and here i'm back, trying to do my own deck with all the new cards (before, i was playing the old version, with faith's reward and open the vault). After many research, i present you my version of the deck.

For those who don't know the goal of the deck, it's not really difficult : You use a lot of eggs (like Chromatic Star/Chromatic Sphere) to makes you draw and get your combo as fast as possible. Some mana acceleration (Mind Stone, Mox Opal), because you want to play Krark-Clan Ironworks as fast as possible, all the deck is based on this card.

Deck

Eggs

His name come from those cards, eggs are artifact with a or mana cost and makes you draw. They are the base of the deck, the allows you to draw your combo cards faster, cycle when you have your combo, and something, convert or add mana.

Mana Accelerator

  • Mind Stone : Allows you to combo turn 3, and it's still and egg if you need.

  • Mox Opal : One of the most powerful artifact, it allows you to combo really fast and generate a tons of mana when you cycle with Krark-Clan Ironworks and Scrap Trawler. Really an excelent card.

Removal

  • Pyrite Spellbomb : Our kill condition, an egg and a small blast that can sometime annoy your opponent.

  • Engineered Explosives : You can easily have 5 color mana with the deck, that's why we use Engineered Explosives, it kill all annoying cards while it's mana cost is under 5. And you can do it forever, if you cycle it with Scrap Trawler, you can really slow down you opponent.

Tutors

  • Inventors' Fair : A land that gives you the artifact you want for , that's really usefull when you just need 1 more combo piece. Tips : if you can cast Krark-Clan Ironworks without landing or using you Inventors' Fair, don't use Inventors' Fair or don't land, keep the possibility of sacrifice it and tutor a combo piece or draw it and play it latter in the turn (when you get the without difficulty).

  • Buried Ruin : A good card against removal, it allows you to get back a good card from your graveyard into you hand. I could also use Academy Ruins, but our goal is to combo as fast as possible, and get the card on top of our library slow us down a bit.

  • Ancient Stirrings : For your can get 1 artifact or land among the 5 card on top of your library, that's insane. you can easily get a card you need for only .

  • Zhalfirin Void : Not really a tutor, but it gives you a free scry.

Lands

  • Darksteel Citadel : The most important land of the deck, it's an artifact so you can sacrifice it to Krark-Clan Ironworks, really usefull if you need more mana during combo.

  • Glimmervoid : A discutable choice, i could also use Spire of Industry, but i prefer Glimmervoid because you don't need to lose hp to get colored mana, because against aggro match up, you can't really tempo and avoid damage so get more damage from your land is a bad idea. And usually, if you have no artifact in play, that mean your opponent destroyed all of them, and at this point, you usually already lost the game.

  • Zhalfirin Void : you don't need a lot of colored mana, that's why we can use Zhalfirin Void, it gives a free scry and that's really usefull sometime.

  • Inventors' Fair : Like said before, it makes you tutor 1 artifact for , it's really usefull to get our combo pieces.

  • Buried Ruin : Same as before, get back a combo piece for 2, really usefull when your oppenent kill your Scrap Trawler.

Combo

Combo 1

You have Krark-Clan Ironworks, Scrap Trawler, Myr Retriever, Chromatic Sphere and a Mox Opal in play, and you have 0 mana :

1 - Use the Chromatic Sphere to convert 1 mana and draw

2 - Here is the tricky part : during the activation of the ability, you can use mana abilities to pay the cost, but you can get more than you need if you want. Then we will tap the Mox Opal to get 1 colored mana, and sacrifice it to Krark-Clan Ironworks, then sacrifice the Myr Retriever and the Krark-Clan Ironworks. Why do we do that ? Because by using the mana ability of Krark-Clan Ironworks during the activation of the Chromatic Sphere, the triggers of the Scrap Trawler and the Myr Retriever won't go on the stack until a player gets the priority (in this case, when the Chromatic Sphere's ability resolves), like that, when all the abilities will trigger, all our artifacts will be in our graveyard

3 - Now, we have Mox Opal, Chromatic Sphere, Myr Retriever and Krark-Clan Ironworks

4 - And now, you have all your artifacts in your hand and mana ( colorless mana from Krark-Clan Ironworks, and colored from Mox Opal and Chromatic Sphere)

5 - Put all your artifacts back in play for and do it again to draw all you need to kill your opponent.

You can also loop with Chromatic Star.

Combo 2

You have Krark-Clan Ironworks, Scrap Trawler, Myr Retriever, Chromatic Sphere(or any other mana artifact) on play, 1 Terrarion or Chromatic Star (for the example we'll have a Chromatic Star) and you have 0 mana (the combo work also if you have the Terrarion or Chromatic Star in play and the mana artifact in your hand):

1 - Announce that you will play your Chromatic Star.

2 - To pay the mana cost, sacrifice Scrap Trawler, Chromatic Sphere and Myr Retriever to Krark-Clan Ironworks.

3 - Same idea as the precedent combo, the trigger will go on the stack when we'll get back the priority so when the Chromatic Sphere comes in play.

4 - Now you have Scrap Trawler, Chromatic Sphere and Myr Retriever in your graveyard:

5 - now you have mana ( from the Krark-Clan Ironworks - from the Chromatic Star's cost) and you just have to play your Scrap Trawler and your Myr Retriever and you come back to the star of the loop.

It's useless ? You gained nothing ? Don't forget that now we have Chromatic Star in play instead of card:Chromatic Shere, so in the next loop it eration, you'll draw a card when you'll sacrifice Chromatic Star 1/2 iteration of the loop will gives you a free draw, and you can do that infinitely !

Tips : Don't forget that infinite draw means win because you will get another Myr Retriever or Scrap Trawler, and at this point, you can easily loop with pyrite spellbomb and kill your opponent.
