Maybeboard

This is a battlecruiser-style landfall deck built for a ~75%, moderately competitive meta. The plan for the deck is to sit back and ramp to eight lands to start drawing off of Omnath's pseudo-landfall trigger while gaining advantage from the rest of the value pieces along the way until it's too much for your opponents to overcome. I haven't acquired a lot of the more expensive green staples or fetch lands yet, but I think it's at a pretty good place even without those for now.

This deck might be for you if:

  • You'd rather spend the first few turns building a nigh-unstoppable value engine than attacking your opponents head-on.

  • You enjoy standing in streams.

  • You get annoyed when you only draw one card per turn.

  • You like complex board states with a cacophony of triggers to keep track of.

  • You'd rather have many different answers for possible situations than a single win condition that you aim for every game.

You might not enjoy this deck if:

  • You are an aggro player.

  • You have a hyper-competitive playgroup.

  • You prefer to have a single, clear-cut win condition.

  • You are stressed out by complicated board-states.

  • You'd rather look at the art on your playmat than a pile of lands and tokens you just played/generated.

  • Oboro, Palace in the Clouds + Burgeoning : You can repeatedly bounce Oboro back to your hand and use Burgeoning to replay it on every opponent's turn if they play a land, guaranteeing you a landfall trigger even if you have no other cards in hand.

  • Animar, Soul of Elements + Omnath, Locus of the Roil : Use Omnath's landfall trigger to put a +1/+1 counter on Animar and make your creatures cheaper.

  • Omnath, Locus of Rage + Risen Reef : Playing a land activates Angry Omnath's landfall trigger to create a 5/5 elemental token, which triggers Risen Reef's ability, which potentially nets you another land off the top of your deck, which would activate Omnath's ability again, and so on.
