Could someone please explain why he is running a lot of prevent all damage cards? I see that they are apart of his combos but why?

also how does Constant Mists and Ramunap Excavator combo?

My playgroup is mostly creature based decks, so the fog spells keep me alive. Constant Mists has a buyback cost where you have to sacrifice a land. Ramunap Excavator allows you tovreplay said land from the graveyard so it doesnt hinder your mana production.

I've found a new Green General that I have fallen in love with. Seton, Krosan Protector is insane, but only if you play it as druid tribal of course, then with Gilt-Leaf Archdruid you can steal your opponents' lands and then play some sort of boardwipe, leaving you with the only one that has mana on the board to recast anything. Kamahl, being a druid, is of course also in the deck, mostly for his second ability, so you can end the game faster :) the Constant Mists + Ramunap Excavator combo might be useful here, with all the hate I'm gonna get for stealing people's lands :)

It's a solid combo, especially if you're going to steal opponents lands. Then it's salt in the wound. Seton is awesome, great find.

Song of the Dryads is always fun as well, turning one of your opponnents' commander into a colorless forest, if they have no way to remove the enchantment or to bounce the commander back into the zone, he will remain useless for the rest of the game. Think Narset or something that totally relies on their commander to do the job. but I see you have already considered this spell.

Yeah, that and Lignify just ended up not performing well for me. My group runs lots of removal for creatures and artifact/enchantment.

hey would you mind taking a look at my Kamahl deck I created, it was heavily inspired by your deck with the exception of cards like constant mist (since my playgroup use non-creature centered decks and use a lot of wraths), also I took out the really expensive cards. so please tell me what you think I should cut/add as well if my deck is balanced in terms of Ramp/card advantage/buffs/utapping etc

Absolutely, I'm in the middle of a road trip, but I'll be home tomorrow and able to give a good look.

So I have another question for you on Selvala, Heart of the Wilds. when you play it does it feel too much like a Group hug card? I know your supposed to be playing a lot of big creatures to maximize the benefit, but I feel like it could give my opponents too much value especially in token decks. she also has the mana ability but i'm just not sure if its enough to out weigh the card draw ability.

do you think Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is strictly better than Terastodon

also why aren't you running Umbral Mantle with Karametra's Acolyte for infinite mana?

Kamerot says... #12

I don't feel her draw ability is a setback personally. Remember, the creature entering the battlefield has to have the highest power in order for the player to draw a card, it happens less often than you'd think.

Ulamog is definitely better than terastodon. It may only only hit 2 targets, but its ANY permanent as opposed to noncreature, doesnt give creatures in return, and exiles.

I don't have a real justifiable answer for not running Umbra mantle, I just don't want auras or equipment in this deck. Staff of Domination provides the same combo along with infinite and life and draw. It may get added in the deck in the future though.

ohh okay yeah I just misread the card, so I'm not sure if she worth buying (she is like 30$) then unless her mana ability is really strong.

For me she has been amazing, if you drop Craterhoof Behemoth or attack with Pathbreaker Ibex you can then use her mana generation in your 2nd main phase or in conjunction with kamahl and guarantee a kill on a couple players.

Another option is adding Primalcrux to your deck. It pair's perfectly with selvala due to the high devotion the deck achieves. When I ran it, those 2 cards were my favorite combo to grab with Defense of the Heart.

One more quick question if an opponent plays a wrath card that destroys all creatures and I have Timber Protector out then I play Natural Affinity in response too the wrath would my lands be safe?

December 30, 2018 12:09 p.m.

Kamerot says... #16

Yes, at the time the wrath card resolves, timber protector is on the battlefield and all your lands would be indestructible, then it dies along with everyone else's lands.

This seems pretty awesome. I've been thinking of revisiting my Goreclaw deck and changing the commander. I think I may try Kamahl, Fist of Krosa out. The synergies you laid out seem really fun to play with. I wanted to ask you if you got to test Yisan, the Wanderer Bard since he has pretty good synergy with Seedborn Muse and Staff of Domination, and if you had any tips on how to adapt this to less creature-heavy meta.

I did try out yisan, and I wasn't a huge fan. If I got him out early, it worked well; but mid to late game, it was a dead card because my deck isn't designed around him. I'm sure with some minor tweeks it'll work out real nice, but I like the way my deck pilots so I'm not willing to make those changes.

This looks like a very interesting mono/green build and I have most of the cards on this list already. I think I’ll try putting it together and see how it does. Great job!
