Solemn Simulacrum —Dec. 5, 2015

Don't know why I missed him. It fits so good to this deck.

What is it about Consecrated Sphinx that you didn't like?

Laboratory Maniac can save you from getting decked when you've drawn your whole library and instead provides a WinCon. With him in play and your library in hand, cast a cantrip and win.

Cool deck, +1

Weakness of Consecrated Sphinx: it is not combo piece and does nothing at the moment when it comes into the battlefield (no ETB, static), it is a creature, CMC. All these drawbacks true for my meta and my deck, that is why in most games I didn't want to play it/ tutor it/ put it, there were always something more useful for winning to play instead. Don't get me wrong, I know that Consecrated Sphinx is a great card, and I use it in my other decks.

Thanks, Jimmy_Chinchila for +1! Laboratory Maniac was long ago in my maybe and tests, it can win the game pretty fast when I Enter the Infinite or infifnite Mind's Desire, I just need to play Brainstorm and the game is over. But outside of this combo it is 2/2 vanila with cmc 3. If i will add him, what should i cut?

December 2, 2015 4:48 p.m.

That's tough, maybe Swan Song or either Mortify or Vindicate. Vindicate is less restrictive but sorcery speed. I guess it comes down to your meta. Swan Song I don't love just because they get a flier out of it, I'd probably run a Spell Pierce or a Stubborn Denial or Annul in its place, but I think Maniac could lead to some crazy wins out of nowhere. Would be even cooler if you could flash him in so someone thinks they're about to deck you and instead your like, no I win actually. Lol. Cool deck for sure

Swan Song is one of the most powerful counterspells in EDH - a 2/2 flier is worth peanuts compared to countering that many spell types for just 1 mana. Not to mention Oloro gains you 2 life every turn, negating the potential damage that the bird could do. But most of the time, the bird just becomes a blocker for whoever gets it.

I have to agree with enpc. 2/2 bird which is additionaly token is not a threat in multiplayer game where people cast things like Necropotence, All Is Dust, Nevinyrral's Disk and other powerful cards.

But i will consider again Laboratory Maniac and combos with it.

You have a lot of infinite mana outlets, but not many actual win conditions. You could realistically look into using Blue Sun's Zenith as a second wincon. It's good in that it also does work outside of the combo.

I think you could safely cut Mind's Desire for it. The card seems out of place in your deck. Since you have a control shell, the card seems bad in that you'll most likely hit removal or counterspells but not actually assemble a combo. And inside of combo, USZ gives you the same support.

Yes, zenith could be a very good additional win condition, i agree, its still in maybe. But zenith doesn't work as a killer with omni, but you right, it is useful by itself. The thing is that i played with minds desire all combos in many games, and it was devastation!

Also i was thinking about Capsize, its pretty interesting card. What do you think about it?

December 2, 2015 8:53 p.m.

enpc says... #9

Eh, Capsize is good in casual games but once you play more competitively you don't really care much about the buyback. And then at that point there are better cards to run.

Also, the argument is a bit moot saying that USZ doesn't work work with Omni considering you're running Exsanguinate as a main win con :P

Matrixxx999 says... #11

You got me ;) But Actualy I meant, that im trying to find realy alternative win con, without "x".

I like Blue Sun's Zenith and I have one in my collection and in maybeboard. Its just i didn't tested zenith a lot. And im afraid that another "x" spell would be a bit redundant.

Now when you suggested it again, i will try to test it as more as possible. Thanks again!

I think you could easily include Nim Deathmantle and Blasting Station into your deck. They together unlock the following:

Not to mention with Flash you can pull off the following: Flash Ashen Rider and don't pay then activate Nim Deathmantle to exile 3 things for 6 mana.

Or with Venser, Shaper Savant + Nim Deathmantle + Phyrexian Altar you can repeatedly counter/bounce stuff for 3 mana. Or Ashen Rider to exile.

Technically you can also count Ashen Rider / Venser, Shaper Savant + Deadeye Navigator as a win on as you can clear the board and beat with commander damage. It is slow though and you need infinite mana.

+1 for the unusual take on a (relatively) common commander. I don't know if someone's mentioned it or if you've already disqualified it, and I don't know if it's what you're looking for but Jace's Archivist can be hilarious in decks like these. He's also a great way to turbo-draw the game by decking everyone at once.

To enpc:

The last one (ashen/venser + deadeye) is already in list of my win cons. They do seem pretty costy but when i play them with Omni its very fast, and almost always means game over (especialy with Palinchron). I rarely end the game with com. damage after that combo, more often people just give up.

I like the idea with deathmantle and station, all stations and mantle were considered by me in my other deck (Sharuum). But in the end i refused of those cards. Maybe i will find a place for them in this deck.

To Supplice:

Thanks for +1! No, I had not considered it. Pretty good wheel ability it has. Thanks for suggestion!

Yeah I missed that one in the list. You might consider rewriting it and breaking it up into sections like

  • infinite mana

  • recursion engines

  • win conditions

For readability sake.

I was just about to change the description. Probably will add a buttons, or somekind of sections. Always not enough time to do it. :(

I'm talkin' boasy and gwanin wassy

Don't know if you're into Drake, but I couldn't resist saying that (above) when I saw the name.

Not a fan of Oloro or infi combos, but whatever, this deck is SWEET.

Hi! And thanks for upvote!

Actualy youre a second person who wrote to me this line from that song. :) And maybe its some kind of a sign (or fate) :), and I need to add Peregrine Drake.

I will start by saying that I believe this deck is more advanced than anything I have yet to create.

Just a side thought, what you thought about Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond infinite combo? Oloro can set it off by himself.

Ever considered Dream Halls? Nice way to cheat out those big CMC cards for the win.

December 4, 2015 1:46 p.m.

Matrixxx999 says... #21

Hi!

Well, EB+SB pretty standart combo (especialy) in oloro decks. Its obvious that this combo plays very good in lifegain decks. In my dec that combo is not so good.

December 4, 2015 5:57 p.m.

Matrixxx999 says... #22

Yes i considered it. Dream Halls can be a problem for its owner, especialy when you play against monocolor. Its to dangerous in my opinion.
