I'm confused at what you are trying to do here. The low number of spells makes Burning Vengeance ineffective. Bump in the Night makes the opponent lose 3 life, not take 3 damage, so it would not work for giving your Duskhunter Bat bloodthirst. 28 is a very high number for lands as well.

It seems like you are trying to incorporate too many ideas into a single deck. Either go damaging spells and flashback for Burning Vengeance and card:Chandra's Phoenix, or go all out creatures with Fling s to toss them (swinging with a pumped inferno titan, doing the extra 3 damage when it attacks, then flinging it is fun).

Look at it like this, 6 spells that cause damage, make someone lose life, flashback negates the flashback cost of card:Devil's Play Duskhunter Bat is flying filler for blocking nothing more. This is a slow build steal all their creatures deck. kill the little ones and run over them with creatures and an over expensive shock every turn. Look at Ghost Quarter as an un counterable land destruction spell to stop KWR, so really it's only 24 land. Typhoid Rats are there as a "kill target attacking creature" spell. card:Chandra's Phoenix is one of the two core spells for the RDW strategy along with Incinerate . manic vandal]] is a blocker side effect of casting Ancient Grudge . And Demonmail Hauberk is simply something useful instead of wasting card advantage if I'm not going against another Stensia Bloodhall deck like say this one: R/B bloodhall.

I am a bit hesitant on typhoid rats and dusk hunter... and the whole burning vengeance shell. But hey, who knows it might work, and the rest of the deck looks pretty solid. Only other thing is maniac vandal seems to be more of a sideboard card and more than a 1 of in the sideboard.

Typhoid Rats is basically a wall, no one wants their creatures to die to a 1/1. They are also a way to get rid of Incinerate or Shock . The Duskhunter Bat s really are really a filler to stop early fliers if I could have a better replacement from 2012 Core or Innistrad Block I would/will replace them. The Burning Vengeance was an accident, a happy accident, I thought it was a different card when I put it in and when I played it I was just like "Lame!" Until I card:Devil's Played turn six for five and turn seven for five for a win. Now playing with it, flashbacking Bump in the Night for five rocks. Yeah, the Manic Vandal card is dumb, it was that or Feral Ridgewolf and I think I might replace it with that. One of my concepts for this deck was to have no vampires, just in case I have an opponent who gets out Olivia before I do and just simply does to mach damage to me that I just can't recover.

I would flat out replace the rats and bats with removal to be honest.

That is good idea, I am partial to the rats though, they remind me of Black's version of Lightning Elemental a creature designed as creature removal. The bats, is an easy out.

Hadarace I didn't mean to, it's when you make updates it puts all prior comments onto a separate page, I basically copied and pasted my response as the update.

I said this on reddit magictcg, "I'm not so much a troll that I would ask for advice and get pissy that I didn't get the answer I wanted. I am just explaining my logic behind my decisions v.s yours to see a bigger and better picture." The only time I get mad at people online is for picking on other people.

I don't see the need for burning vengence in this deck it helps with devil's play and bump in the night but overall it isn't being used to full effect I would drop it along with feral ridgewolf, and demonmail haubruk for 4xGeistflame : turn one removal that will help slow down aggro decks and break apart Stromkirk Noble 's before they get started.

I made a deck two days ago that's focus was to steal opponents creatures and sac them for my avantage. check it out let me know what you think and hope it helps. deck:ritualistic-practices

SwiftDeath No need for Geistflame with Olivia Voldaren the Demonmail Hauberk is to put on and protect the Blood Queen and make it so I'm not stuck holding two or three of her in my hand. With three Olivia Voldaren no vampire deck should be able to pick up steam. Just keep taking them from your opponent with her Highness.

Edit, removed the wolf and rats added Geistflame for the Burning Vengeance .

28 lands seems a bit too much, I think you could safely cut 2 (like 1 Ghost Quarter and 1 Stensia Bloodhall ) and add spot removal main deck or even a semi-board wipe ala Slagstorm . Helps a lot vs aggro decks like Humans and Tempered Steel. It's more of a meta call but if its like mine, you'll love to have them in your 75 :P

There is nothing better than uncounterable land destruction. Ghost Quarter I look at as a spell so really it's 20 because bloodhall is a pricey uncounterable Shock I could see maybe taking one out though for another Brimstone Volley .

Hah, I like it. Have you considered Curse of BloodlettingMTG Card: Curse of Bloodletting as a 1 or 2-of?It's kinda hilarious to throw that down right before activating your Shrine with 6-10 counters on it.

Minousmancer says... #17

That might be even better than Burning VengeanceMTG Card: Burning Vengeance in this deck.

February 19, 2012 2:01 p.m.

kingboo3000 says... #18

Yeah, I'd agree, as you have 3 ways to benefit from Burning VengeanceMTG Card: Burning Vengeance, and pretty much the rest of your deck to benefit from the curse.

I traded it out see the update, Double your pleasure.

Just to note, Curse of BloodlettingMTG Card: Curse of Bloodletting does NOT affect the life loss from Bump in the NightMTG Card: Bump in the Night. Curse doubles damage, Bump causes life loss, not damage. Be aware! :)

I don't see anything I could fit in for it, but Falkenrath NobleMTG Card: Falkenrath Noble is amazingly good for this deck... Also, Undying EvilMTG Card: Undying Evil doesn't work so well at keeping Olivia VoldarenMTG Card: Olivia Voldaren alive...

February 24, 2012 2:34 p.m.

Minousmancer says... #21

Undying EvilMTG Card: Undying Evil is more for the Titans. Taking out Bump in the NightMTG Card: Bump in the Night for IncinerateMTG Card: Incinerate.

kingboo3000 says... #22

Hmm, that might be tricky, because unless the opponent decides wait to kill your titans (wow, not likely), they'll probably use their removal right away, so you'd need 7 mana open to cast them and Undying EvilMTG Card: Undying Evil. I like the card, but in this deck, Falkenrath NobleMTG Card: Falkenrath Noble might indeed be better. Because then at least you get something for them killing your creatures, AND more importantly, you get something every time you use a kill spell.

Also, a note on the mana... Do you think you really need four Evolving WildsMTG Card: Evolving Wilds if you're playing two colors? I don't think getting a tapped land in this deck would be a good thing, espescially early on. I would take these out for 3 more Blackcleave CliffsMTG Card: Blackcleave Cliffs. Because they'll never come out tapped early on, but will later, basically strictly better than Evolving WildsMTG Card: Evolving Wilds. Maybe another MountainMTG Card: Mountain for the other one.

CrushU says... #23

Speaking from my own Blood Fire related experience...Blackcleave CliffsMTG Card: Blackcleave Cliffs are useful, but not STRICTLY necessary. The reason is that you don't often need mana turn 1, and your mana symbols aren't restrictive for your first three turns. Unlike if you wanted to Lightning BoltMTG Card: Lightning Bolt first turn, then second turn DistressMTG Card: Distress, this deck doesn't particularly care if it has specific colors on the first two turns.

To say it another way, you have time to wait for tapped lands with this one, since you're killing everything that comes out. Also, the 3-drop spot is mostly spells you don't need immediately (Phoenix/Volley/Stromkirk) so you can afford a tapped land on your third turn, and same is true for 5-drop (Curse).

Hmm, maybe I'm crazy, but it still seems odd that you have all those Stromkirk CaptainMTG Card: Stromkirk Captains for only having one other vampire. But I like the update! It's looking really great!
