Meren’s Tavern: Diggin’ and Robbin’- Overview

This deck is truly unique. Toeing the line between tier 1 and still fun to play, between casual and competitive, it's something I'm really happy to bring to the table. Pun fully intended.

Goal of the Deck

In theory, the goal of this deck is to overwhelmingly value your opponents out of the game. How? Glad you probably didn't ask! As with most aristocrat decks, my goal is for each of my creatures to be a number of different spells, somewhere between two and, ideally, four or more. 'And how does one do that?', you once again didn't ask. Well, the goal is to be 'casting' one spell when the creature enters the battlefield or dies, to be 'casting' another when you sacrifice the creature, and at least one more whenever one of your creatures dies.

Sac Targets: The Engine's Fuel

The sac targets in this deck could be vaguely cut into a few different packages:

Ramp: Diligent Farmhand , Farhaven Elf , Sakura-Tribe Elder , Solemn Simulacrum , Veteran Explorer , Viridian Emissary . Now Veteran Explorer seems an odd choice but it's actually pretty great. Not only does it ramp, and BOY does it ramp, it also bolsters alliances with other players.

Creature Removal: Fleshbag Marauder , Merciless Executioner , Noxious Gearhulk , Plaguecrafter , Ravenous Chupacabra , and Vindictive Lich . This deck can often win by just locking creatures out of the game, permanently stopping opponents from having any thanks to Fleshbag Marauder s and Merciless Executioner s combined with Dictate of Erebos effects.

Noncreature Removal: Acidic Slime , Caustic Caterpillar , and Reclamation Sage .

Card Advantage: Disciple of Bolas , Eternal Witness , Sidisi, Undead Vizier , Treasure Keeper , and Wall of Blossoms .

Tokens: Avenger of Zendikar , Blisterpod , Grave Titan , Thragtusk , Tukatongue Thallid , and Wurmcoil Engine .
