"Not all pitbulls are bad dogs" "Not all pitbulls are violent" "Not all rappers are gangsters" "Not all jocks are stupid" "Not all gamers are virgins" What do these statements have in common? They all are stating that stereotypes are not always true, and we know that. So how come that sentiment doesn't transfer to magic? "RDW players are stupid" "Stax players were touched as children" "Atraxa is the most violent and hateful commander"....

I AM HERE TO BREAK THAT BELIEF SYSTEM! NOT ALL ATRAXA DECKS ARE EVIL! ATRAXA CAN BE NICE TOO, JUST LIKE THE MELETIS BROS AND ZEDRUU! Here is my proof, my Atraxa hug deck.

Let's get the end game out of the way early. Obviously the main wincon in hug is to let the opponents beat eachother down and then swoop in at the end for the final damage. We know that so let's just get to the ones specific to this deck. With cards like Avenger of Zendikar + Chasm Skulker + Hangarback Walker we have access to small but respectable bulk amounts of tokens on our battlefield. We can win with these by putting plus one counters on them and bulking them with Atraxa, then swinging when you have Herald of secret storms Even better if you use Biomass Mutation. You have access to Reins of Power which is like a blue version of insurrection and the closest you will get to it without red. Lastly, you can just fling Atraxa once you get her big with Final Strike + Rite of Consumption

You are running Atraxa so no matter what you will have some boogeyman factor. Most won't believe that you are actually group hug, and of course, helping others can leave you vulnerable. So you will need to defend yourself. The cards tagged #Dfence should do the trick and I believe they are all self explanatory

Now we hug. Hard. You want the trust of your opponents and more than that, you want them, to want you, alive. Cards that may seem bad like Aku Djinn and Upwelling Can make opponents defend you from each other. Make powerful allies. and if Upwelling becomes too much of a problem, pop it with Devout Witness. The rest should not be too surprising, but most people raise eyebrows at those and call them bad, too helpful even. Exactly. That's the point this is a hug deck after all. and it would be a shame if u built a massive board thanks to Aku and I took it with reins of power. (I should probably get a comeuppance but whatever)

There are more cards you can hug with, but these ones can also be used for yourself, offensively, or defensively. They can be used politically, or selfishly. We will call these "#UtilityHug" These are all self explanatory.

The cards that let you ramp, get extra mana, or draw will be #speed

The rest of the cards will just be labeled #others
