Maybeboard

Sorcery (1)

Enchantment (1)

This is a deck based around etb's and controlling the board (with a hint of chaos) while Norin the Wary flickers in and out, fueling my value train. First, we'll talk about some of my cards that deal with etb's. Pandemonium, Impact Tremors, Purphoros, God of the Forge, and Warstorm Surge all deal damage, while Altar of the Brood mills, and Confusion in the Ranks give me control of everyone's creatures (starting with the biggest of course). Some of the cards that control are Ensnaring Bridge, Glacial Crevasses, and Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs all deter opponents from attacking us (or attacking in general) without some downside, whether that's another etb trigger, an impending fog, or even just the inability of attacking, to begin with. The pillow fort helps stop attacks, but the board wipes help make it so the opponents never have a board, to begin with; All Is Dust, Blasphemous Act, Nevinyrral's Disk, Vandalblast, and best of all Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Some control on decks with more colors are Price of Glory, which deters instants or disturbance in my board, Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon to shut off non-basic lands, Price of Progress deals damage to each player equal to twice the number of non-basic lands they control, which in the best case scenario, can one-shot an opponent, and Widespread Panic helps shut down both fetch lands and even tutors, since it sets the next draw for that player. The major reason I have so many controlling cards is to try and reach a combo I have in the deck and win; Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker & Zealous Conscripts to make infinite tokens (that if necessary I can then sacrifice to make infinite colorless mana with Ashnod's Altar or infinite damage with Goblin Bombardment) or Rings of Brighthearth & Basalt Monolith to make infinite colorless mana to pump into cards like Banefire or Tempt with Vengence. Some of the big game enders are the two combos, Taurean Mauler (since people LOVE playing spells), Insurection (especially with a sac outlet so that no one gets their creatures back), and Mogg Infestation on myself, so that I can get tons of etb triggers. Hellkite Tyrant can win me games sometimes; but he never stays on the board long enough to hit that trigger. The main problem with having a mono-colored deck (especially mono-red), so I put in every fetch land with red in it (Wooded Foothills, Bloodstained Mire, Arid Mesa, and Scalding Tarn) and then Crucible of Worlds to consistently hit my land drop (even if it does cause 1 damage every time, its worth it), and Thaumatic Compass   lets me do the same but to my hand instead of fetching straight to battlefield. Extraplanar Lens + Snow-Covered Mountain make it so only my lands tap for two, while Gauntlet of Power and Caged Sun just lets my lands (and for gauntlet my opponents who run red lands) tap for an additional color. I run Homeward Path because I have bad memories of theft decks (especially Keiga, the Tide Star). The next important part is the wheels; Wheel of Fortune and Magus of the Wheel, while Molten Psyche is a forced mulligan, and if I have metalcraft (which I usually do), it helps damage my opponents some more, and Omen Machine plus these cards help me make it so my opponents have 0 cards in hand (and adds a bit of chaos to the mix). The last major part of this deck is Chandra Ablaze. Usually known as the second worst planeswalker (only behind Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded); but here is an all-star. Chandra's +1 gives us a way to repeatedly deal with threats (especially when I have Squee, Goblin Nabob or Anger in hand), and dump our hand to get Ensnaring Bridge cooking. Her -2 lets us wheel out opponents, and with Omen Machine out it starts up the bridge once more and even lets us draw into gas, and a free wheel + Mind's Eye is always worth it, you could draw up to 12 cards that turn. While not regularly used, her -7 is one of 3 ways of getting cards back from the graveyard (Buried Ruin and Haunted Fengraf) and even lets us cast them for free, what could be better in a mono-red deck?
