Dox Engine Update and MH1 updates —July 10, 2019

Replaced Whirlpool Warrior with Echo of Eons. This completes the same task and allows us to reshuffle infinitely with two twisters. Replaced Prismatic Lens with Talisman of Creativity, just a better rock. Replaced Paradox Engine with Pyretic Ritual. This turns R into RRR and ramps into Niv Mizzet a turn faster. Replaced a single Island with a Fiery Islet, yay more mana fixing.

You're playing Future Sight and Grafdigger's Cage in the same deck?

Gates88 - Yes, both are in the deck. Though I'm debating finding a spot for Treasonous Ogre and Future Sight might be the best spot. Graffdiggers will still let you play lands from the top of your deck if you happen to have both in play. Yes they have anti synergy, but as a pilot you have the ability to work around that and not put both out at the same time.

Watching the stream now. Decided to ask you on here instead of bothering you while you’re playing. No blood moon in this deck? Is that just not the game plan just trying to counter and ramp to win as fast as possible? Also if you draw and ping to death in a 4 person game how do you kill everyone before running out of cards? Maybe I’m overlooking something big.

KBet Bloodmoon just hurts us too much we only ever need RRR, everything after that is primarily blue. If you assemble the combo, you draw until you can kill one or two players, then you cast a Whirlpool Warrior, which shuffles your hand into your deck and you draw that many cards. This lets you kill the other player. If it doesn't quite, you can then sac it do it again. And... you have twister to start it all over again.

Hey Cameron, the Lab Maniacs have inspired me to move up and build a competitive EDH deck. Been playing edh for about 5 years now, and I'm just curious if you have any recommendations for getting into the format? Archetype, decks, start out with a budget? That kind of thing. Hope to hear back from you. Love this deck by the way. I've played the Firemind for a while. Seems like a much improved Niv-Mizzet sans the mana cost. Regards to you and the other lab men. Keep doing what you do!

nn2112 - it really depends on what your current collection is. If you have a good mana base, then looking at a Paradox Scepter Thrasios deck is probably the best start. It gets you into the main colors, gets you a very solid game plan and gets you into one of the most consistent decks out there. If you don't really have a solid collection, take a look at Dan's budget series here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LabManiacs/comments/63y1qx/budget_deck_series_collection/

Hey Cameron, just wondering how the testing was going. Since your video I have been playing this deck and testing it non stop and I feel like it has a lot of potential. Needless to say do to Niv's mana cost it wont be max power, but I do feel like he could be a good anti-meta commander if built properly. Hope you can keep this deck updated and testing it. Best of luck!

putting in Fiery Islet?

Talisman of creativity over prismatic lens?

June 22, 2019 5:12 a.m.

Rob828 - check out our cEDH 101 series on labmaniacs.com. Niv is solid in metas where people are playing grindy midrange decks. If everyone is rushing for the win, it can be a challenge to hold your own.

Sgt_Facebreaker yes on islet and yes on talisman going in, but I'm actually testing a ritual over prismatic lens right now. Not sure if it should just be the talisman or a ritual there.
