Niv-Mizzet, Parun is the Commander. Any text in parentheses are references to the Maybe Board.

MAIN OBJECTIVE: This deck is built around the card-drawing damage-dealing Niv-Mizzet, Parun or Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind . The main objective is to establish a combo of Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, Parun or Niv-Mizzet, Parun + Tandem Lookout (and lastly, Niv-Mizzet, Parun + Ophidian Eye ) as quickly as possible.

0.a) Before you play a curiosity, make sure you have the mana available to cast a non-counter instant or any sorcery. 0.b) If any opponent plays blue, ready a counter-spell for each opponent playing that color. 1.a) Cast Curiosity on a Niv, but do NOT play a land. 1.b) Help Curiosity resolve. For each attempt to counter Curiosity or your countering of their counter-spells, use Niv-Mizzet's "whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery, you draw a card" trigger before responding or letting an opponent respond, asses your hand, and deflect counter-spells. 2.) Once Curiosity resolves, choose your first opponent to eliminate. This opponent is usually the one with the most dangerous board-state, or lowest life total. Cast a the instant or sorcery you prepared in step 0.

When the combo gets going it's hard to ignore that you can only draw from a maximum of a 99 card library and need to deal 120 damage to eliminate all opponents. Through threat assessment and board states, determine which opponent will give you the least resistance or has the least amount of interaction to impede your win. Use the draws from the combo to grab just enough cards to eliminate two of the players. Curiosity has a "may" clause, so you can choose when to stop drawing.

3.) Look through your hand to find and play Reliquary Tower , or if you have enough mana available, consider playing Thought Vessel if it hasn't been played in a previous turn. This protects your hand size and all of the cards you drew, which is very likely 80 cards. At this point, you should have enough tools at your disposal to play a very one-sided game against your last opponent. End your turn.

4.) Cast Mindmoil or Teferi's Puzzle Box and protect Niv and Curiosity .

ALTERNATE WIN CONDITION: Enter Laboratory Maniac or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries . Hold this card in your hand until it is time to put a Curiosity or Tandem Lookout on a Niv. This will give an alternate - albeit less preferred - win condition due to its overall mana cost.
