Higure, the Still Wind, a legendary ninja from my favorite block, Kamigawa. This deck started with a wild idea of trying to make him work as a commander. I quickly realized that, no, there aren't enough ninjas to make ninja tribal work. So instead I put it into a mono-U control shell, and this deck was born. The deck's primary win-con is Laboratory Maniac, with the help of Brain Freeze and High Tide (hence the name, Ninja Tide.) Yes, there are better High Tide commanders out there (Jace) and yes, there are better lab maniac commanders out there (Azami) but, again, we're here for Higure. I'm also hunting down a copy of Blightsteel Colossus so I can live the dream of making it a ninja and then using Higure to make it unblockable.

I've found that all of the ninjas I run serve me pretty well. Sakashima's Student is a clone that can surprise attack. Mistblade Shinobi helps get rid of problematic creatures. Walker of Secret Ways can bounce my own ninjas to reload ninjitsu (especially nice with Sakashima's Student) though, if I take out another ninja, it'll probably be her. Ninja of the Deep Hours helps with card draw. And in the same vein of Deep Hours, I run 3 different Coastal Piracy effects because this deck often gets lots of smaller creatures through, giving me solid card advantage.

One nice thing about Higure is, even if you aren't looking for a ninja, his ability is helpful. Draw a ton of cards but still don't have the one you need? Use Scroll Rack and then Higure's ability to shuffle them away. Stuck with a bland three cards on top of your library with Sensei's Divining Top? Shuffle them away. You get the idea.
