I'm looking to upgrade the pre-con Nicol Bolas deck to make it more competitive on a budget in the new standard, with a view to taking it to FNM/Showdown.

I've already added a few cards from XLN/RIX, but as a relatively new player I think I'd benefit from some suggestions from the internet.

Stuff in the maybe board are things I'd like to include, but can't work out which cards to sub for them.

Aim of the game so far is to aggro until I can get Bolas out. I like the idea of making it a bit more control/midrange.

Any and all suggestions welcome!

First Showsown — March 8, 2018

First round - 0-2 to God-Pharaoh's Gift Combat Celebrant combo. Game 2, boarded in 3x Scarab Feast, 4x Duress, 1x Lost Legacy. Got my opponent down to 1 life. Thinking about adding a little bit of burn for this match up as it's relatively popular in my store's meta.

Second round - 0-2 to U/B/W control. Game 2, boarded in 4x Duress, 2x GPG and 1x Lost Legacy. Managed to exile The Scarab God with Lost Legacy but lifegain got the better of me.

Third Round - R/G monsters. Over before I could blink. Boarded in Hour of Devastation, Sweltering Suns, Didn't do much against Carnage Tyrant.

Participation points are better than nothing I suppose.
