Overall Changes —Feb. 27, 2018

Lots of changes coming through! Several I forgot to document, so you may notice changes that aren't reflected here from the initial list.

The 4 main changes today are due to Rivals of Ixalan and Masters 25 spoilers.

-Sin Prodder +Magus of the Wheel -Obsidian Fireheart +Azor's Gateway  Flip -Cryptolith Fragment  Flip +Ruby Medallion -Smoldering Crater +Arch of Orazca

EDIT: One more change per Suns_Champion and commentary on the deck! Now adding Firebrand Archer and cutting Temple of the False God. I want redundancy on pingers, thus the inclusion, and while I do love Temple I had to make a cut. I rarely like to cut lands but honestly Temple is closer to a 5 mana ramp spell that refunds our initial investment. I had to cut something!

Hi! Thanks for your comment!

I totally agree about Strip Mine etc etc - they are great includes to any deck but especially one so easily hosed by Glacial Chasm. I'll need to find some room for them, do you have any suggestions for cuts? I am nervous to lower my mountain count by too much but perhaps that is just the natural cut.

Crucible of Worlds would be such a great inclusion, especially if I add Strip Mine, but probably a bit out of budget. If I ever do get my hands on one it slots in nicely though!

Came here from clickbait curious to see if you ran comet storm due to the clever name,

Was not disappointed

My favorite red card in edh is Wheel of Fortune, its unmatched for mono red card draw!

I know its not a budget card, so in case you're on a budget, Reforge the Soul and Wheel of Fate get the job done! (In this case, refilling your hand)

Cheers

Hello goblinguiderevealpls, thanks for the comment!

Comet Storm is my favorite red spell of all time, haha, and is definitely my inspiration for the deck. I wish I could run 10.

If I ever get my hands on a Wheel of Fortune, it's going in here hands down. I do run Reforge the Soul, and Wheel of Fate is a great consideration. I've always shied away from it because it telegraphs when the wheel hits, it maybe that's a good thing to create some pressure and movement in the game? What is your experience with the card?

Same thing, i used to run it in my wheel deck until i got fortune, and its far too slow for my decl since my gameplan is to play Nekusar, the Mindrazer and then wheel opponents to death, its good for setup but definitely intimidates the other players while suspended

Its not bad in control decks where it can function similar to Ancestral Vision for drawing more answers

It was more of a budget rec of Wheel of Fortune but it is 100% worse,

Ive played tuned mono red decks in the past ( Krenko, Mob Boss, Norin the Wary and Lovisa Coldeyes, and the general problem ive seen shared between those commanders is that you frequently end up top decking after a few turns, and reliable card draw is VERY limited in mono red

Reforge the soul will probably do just fine here, and the only other options are Wild Guess, Tormenting Voice and Cathartic Reunion, but those are hard to cast if its not turn 2 cuz you often wont have anything to discard

The best thing to compensate for lack of draws or to maximize top decking would be something like Outpost Siege naming dragons, or Sensei's Divining Top to manipulate your topdecks

But mono red is what it is, it starts explosively and then burns out mid game, frankly neheb is potentially far more explosive than the 3 red commanders i mentioned though, as long as you kill your table before you burn out, draw isnt that necessary :)

Since you already run most of the card draw, i will say Sensei's Divining Top is the best way to manipulate your top decking here that i dont already see

Totally agree that the biggest problem with Mono-Red is the near instant top-deck mode.

I like Tormenting Voice and Wild Guess alot, but Cathartic Reunion is too big of a blowout if someone decides to counter you (my meta seems to love this).

Outpost Siege is in there, absolutely love it. I have two copies of Sensei's Divining Top but they are currently in other decks that I feel want them more (an Esper miracles brew i have yet to upload and another project of mine, Licia, the Sanguine Storm.) If I get a 3rd it may go in my Norin deck over Neheb (Also not yet uploaded - I'm working on it!). I think Wheel of Fortune would go in here over Norin, however. I just have to find one now....

I found Neheb can make some good mana so I put Loreseeker's Stone and Tower of Fortunes in. Both are good mana sinks and can draw a bunch of cards.

Neheb's mana ability is a triggered ability. Strionic Resonator can get silly.

Here's my list, I went for more effects that damage everyone to get more mana on my second main for sinks.http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/you-get-pain-and-you-get-pain-everyone-gets-pain/

Thanks for writing everything out! My Neheb deck is still in early stages, and geared for a casual/fun to play set up. There are a few cards from the Ixalan set that you might wanna look atTilonalli's SummonerConsistant sink, great for balancing other tokens.Vanquisher's BannerNot great for your build but good Neheb card if you ran any tribal.

My decks MVP is Skyship StalkerIf you would do the honors I would value your opinion on my build.
