Neheb, around the world

Commander / EDH* Mono-Red

dvh159

cEDH Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion deck.

The focus of the deck is to play neheb on turn 1, and hopefully attack with him on turn 2. This lets us wheel, and find some of our wincons.
If you are against a slower table it is worth to go for one of the two card comboes, since these are less all in. The comoes are as following:
Tips and tricks:
  • Sometimes goin slow and trying to let another player go off first can be really good, since we don't have much protection for our comboes. This is why we play so many stax pieces.
  • Try to only spend 1 card per turn and let the other playes handle the problems, if you play one stax piece each turn, at some point they can't really interact anymore.
  • Be aware that you don't have to ship your whole hand to Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion 's ability.
  • Remember everything cost 1 less because of Ruby Medalion after using Scrap Mastery .
  • Don't cast Planar Chaos unless you are really far behind and a win is far away.
  • Remember that you don't really need lands, so don't be afraid to blow them up, because normally you opponents need them the win the game.
  • Normally 4c Hermit Druid decks are faster than you, this is where it is important to remember not to look threatening. This can be done by not shipping away your whole hand, and only attacking the fast combo players.
  • Fun fact if people are low on resources Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is actually castable in this deck, and draws you four cards.
  • Faithless Looting should not be cast from your hand, unless you are really high on resources, or have a wheel in hand. This is because staying high on cards in hand is very important in this deck.
  • Mulligan:
  • If you see Squee, Goblin Nabob you really have to have a good reason to mulligan that hand, since this is our only real way to generate card advantage.
  • Cards like Mana Crypt that accelerates you 2 mana should always be keept, because it is allways easier to draw the lands you need.
  • Wheels are always good to start with, since they can ruin you opponents mulligan decisions, and they can refuel your hand.
  • Stranglehold is very important in the fight against decks like Zur the Enchanter storm and Protean Hulk decks.
  • When you see it:
  • Seize the Day is a card that let's you dig really deep, and in the mean time generating 5 or 3 additional mana, which can help you go off with one of your comboes.
  • If you are up against a blue heavy pod and you are one of, fastest deck you should try to hold on to Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast .
  • Wheels are always good to use, to refuel your hand.
  • Combo pieces can be worth to hold on to against slower pods, to try to assemble a combo.
  • Okay, if i have to be honest, you should probably not play this deck if you play cEDH only to win the most possible games.
  • But if you however like to:
  • Play cEDH to assemble hard puzzles in order to win.
  • Use stax pieces to slow down the game to a more “fair” level.
  • Challenge yourself by playing only one colour, and even the second worst one.
  • Cry when the opponent has multiple counterspells.
  • To storm off using rituals and removal spells.
  • If you ticked yes to more than one of these this deck is probably for you.
