A competitive Rakdos control deck in Standard. Achieves victory through a large amount of destruction while discarding powerful creatures to be brought back using Ever After or even hard casting them due to the large amount of destruction in the deck the games can go long or short.
CREATURES
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet great in any deck that runs destruction, creates tokens and can use them to get bigger, gains life and is capable of winning games all on his own.
Mindwrack Demon
big flying 4 drop creature with trample that puts extra stuff in the graveyard upon entry and survives Grasp of Darkness and Languish.
Goblin Dark-Dwellers another big body with menace that allows me to cast one of the many 3 and under cost spells from my graveyard upon entry. Brings a lot of value to the table in this brew and allows me to recast my destruction spells.
Dragonlord Kolaghan big nasty dragon that gives all my creatures haste and severely punishes other decks that are running multiple copies of stuff, which is basically everything right now in standard...
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger the big meanie... exiles a big chunk of their library on attack, is a huge body with indestructible and exiles two permanents in long games where it's hardcast, made extra possible with Kolaghan's Command.
SPELLS
Sinister Concoction
low cast creature destruction that allows me to discard, fills up my graveyard and fuels delirium. Honestly, it's one of the best cards in SOI.
Lightning Axe surprise creature removal that kills most things in the format and allows me to discard.
Tormenting Voice
allows me to discard and get more cards in my hand, card advantage + filtering. Really good in this brew.
Fiery Temper
good to discard with
Tormenting Voice
or
Sinister Concoction
for extra removal or damage to the face. Lots of value in this.
Read the Bones extra draw / filter to further get card advantage and a great target for Goblin Dark-Dwellers when nothing specific is required.
To the Slaughter when cast at the right time this card is super strong here, can 2 for 1 a planeswalker and a creature. Important to hold onto these or cast them from Goblin Dark-Dwellers at the appropriate time and the reason that I run them is hexproof creatures such as
Dragonlord Ojutai
and a flipped Westvale Abbey
which are in the strongest decks currently. Getting delirium is very easy in this deck.
Ruinous Path
for straight up creature / planeswalker removal that is most effective and can also turn a land into a decent size creature in longer games.
Kolaghan's Command options are great and this card has lots of them. Bring a creature back to my hand from the yard, deal 2 damage to a creature or player, make a player discard (I've even used this on me to drop Ulamog on an opponents end step and then reanimate it on my turn), destroy an artifact (Most notably Pyromancer's Goggles). A great card to cast from Goblin Dark-Dwellers.
Ever After the reanimation spell, allows us to bring up to 2 creatures back from the graveyard. Allows for us to nab Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger and a Goblin Dark-Dweller for extra value.
Chandra, Flamecaller she is just so powerful, I keep another copy in the sideboard because she is just capable of winning games all by herself. All of her abilities are extremely relevant here. Her discard allows me to drop creatures and dig for a
Necromantic Summons
or whatever I need, her -x wipes the board while her +1 wins the game... Great card
SIDEBOARD
Transgress the Mind
hand disruption, deals with mid to large spells and threats of all sorts that I don't want my opponent to be casting or even holding...
Pick the Brain
exiles any nonland card from the opponents hand and the surgical extraction effect is great with my inevitable delirium.
Infinite Obliteration takes out annoying cards that annoying decks will run 4 of to be annoying, what is especially hilarious is that I can recast this with Goblin Dark-Dwellers to ruin their day.
Kozilek's Return an instant speed token / weenie sweeper that can come back as bigger in long games if I cast Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger.
Crumble to Dust
the goal of some of the most powerful decks right now is to flip Westvale Abbey
and casting this card causes a lot of handshakes.
Volcanic Upheaval
instant speed Westvale Abbey
hate...
Chandra's Ignition board sweeper which is good with Kalitas and hilarious with Ulamog.
