I recently piloted this to 3-1 at FNM. My only loss was to Season's Past. So, I have modified the original list Nayahiri to contain Warping Wail and Eldrazi Displacer. Displacer lets me fizzle their removal. Warping Wail allows me to prevent their mecha card advantage house that is Seasons Past.

goal is to ult nahiri to snag a dude.

Write up I did for /r/spikes

/r/spikes- Allow me to debut a new list. I know I will get loads of hate for trying to brew and not going with an established archetype, but I just had to brew. I'm a brewer for the people. Plus, without a good brew (which this probably isn't), how would we ever learn of newer and better decks?

Now, I will admit, I have yet to get any impressive tournament finishes. But that isn't because I'm bad. No, it's because I don't have any tournaments to go to. And maybe it's because I'm bad. But that is irrelevant to the /spikes subreddit, right?

So, without further adieu, I bring you to Nahiri's Toolbox!

Creatures (13)
4x Sylvan Advocate- This card is a beast. To put it simply, it is one of the most overpowered pieces of shit out there, if it is played correctly. It has synergies with Needle Spires, to attack for lots the turn it comes down. This is our 2 drop that allows us to stay in this. It blocks and attacks well, and only gets better as the game progresses.
2x Tireless Tracker- This card generates maximum value. Against control, it can be played on turn 4 to guarantee a clue if it resolves, which allows for some extra card draw later in the game. It can quickly grow out of hand if left alone.
2x Eldrazi Displacer- I'm on the fence about this card, but I think it serves a very good purpose. It is a defensive and offensive card. It blinks your own creatures, such as Dragonlord Atarka, for more value. It also can remove counters, creatures from combat, and fizzle removal. Appears to be a very strong card. Considering cutting one of the top end creatures for a third one.
1x Archangel Avacyn  - This card is another board wipe. Its etb effect can be game deciding. That being said, I think it is the worst of the tutorable pieces, as it is relatively weak. It can be flashed back in for 2 turns of indestructible if tutored for with Nahiri.
1x Dragonlord Atarka - The enter the battlefield effect can easily eliminate a planeswalker. If it has haste from coming off of Nahiri, it can shred through a planeswalker and 8 life, or 2 planeswalkers. The card is also very strong with Eldrazi Displacer.
1x Linvala, the Preserver - Great for stabilizing against aggressive decks. Allows for the pilot of this deck to reach the late game, where all the planeswalkers and creatures come unhinged. The life gain and token are extremely relevant in some matches. If tutored for with Nahiri, it can result in gaining 10 life and potentially 2 3/3 fliers.
1x Woodland Bellower- Now, I know this card seems absolutely terrible, but just hear me out. The primary target with this guy, once he enters the battlefield, is a Sylvan Advocate. Now, I know I still seem crazy, but this is the closest we have to the Jeskai Nahiri closer that is Emrakul in modern. If there are no creatures on the battlefield, and you have a needle spires, you get to tutor with Nahiri for this bad boy, find a Sylvan Advocate, animate Needle Spires, attack for 14. if you have another sylvan advocate on the field, you can attack for 22 damage.
1x Dragonlord Dromoka- Good against control. You probably won't untap with it, but that is A-Ok. Its goal is to be tutored out with Nahiri to guarantee the resolution of your next spell. Say you have a Chandra, Flamecaller in hand, and your opponent has counter magic. You ultimate a Nahiri, find this bad boy, play your Chandra uncontested, attack for a crap ton.

Enchantment (3)
3x Oath of Nissa - Very good card for fixing mana in the early game and for casting planeswalkers easily in the later game.

Planeswalker (7)
3x Nahiri, the Harbinger- The namesake of the deck, Nahiri. She draws you cards and pitches your useless ones. She tutors for all the one of toolbox creatures to abus ETB effects multiple times. Definitely a great card, but I think 4 is too many.
2x Chandra, Flamecaller-Very simple card here. Card advantage, clock, mass removal. She does it all. The clock is the most used ability, being her +1, but she can also provide insane card advantage in the late game, if need be. Her board wipe is also very relevant against tokens and company decks.
2x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar- He offers a very quick clock, applies some good pressure, and forces an answer, often baiting heat away from our Nahiri.

Instant (5)
2x Warping Wail - This is the strangest inclusion in this deck. it is the primary reason for the colorless splash. This deck has problems grinding through control and Seasons Past decks. This card allows for the best Planeswalker removal card, Ruinous Path, to be countered. It also allows for countering Explosive Vegis of ramp, and Seasons Past of seasons past decks.
3x Fiery Impulse - Arguably the best removal in standard, although worse after the reduction in the use of jace and other cheap, 2 toughness dudes. It still can be brutal to use against some decks, and the spell mastery allows for some other troublesome creatures to be picked off.

Sorcery (7)
3x Radiant Flames- This deck is very slow, so we need some main deck sweepers to keep us on our feet until our planeswalkers can overpower the rest of the game.
3x Declaration in Stone - allows for tokens to be killed no problem, along with other troublesome threats. Granted, they will likely get value out of the clue.
1x Tragic Arrogance- Another board wipe. I'm not sure if Planar Outburst is better or not.

Land (25)
4x Battlefield Forge- Necessary for colorless sources for Eldrazi Displacer and Warping Wail
4x Evolving Wilds- Helps with finding colorless sources, also helps get other necessary colors
1x Fortified Village
2x Canopy Vista
2x Cinder Glade
3x Needle Spires
1x Wastes
3x Forest
3x Mountain
2x Plains

First, the idea came from Naya Midrange decks which have been popping up around at some events. I had wanted to build a list similar to those, but that could be more resilient to all types of decks.

It also came from the Modern Jeskai Nahiri decks that have put up some good results. I am aware that the purpose of the 2 decks is entirely different. The Jeskai list is very much tempo based, while this list is not.

Now, onto the strengths and weaknesses of this deck:

Strength: Quick, explosive wins
Strength: Resilient threat base
Strength: Relies on more than one threat, diversifies
Strength: Has good board wipes
Weakness: Manabase can be choppy
Weakness: Weak to Season's Past and other control decks, such as Esper Planeswalkers.
Weakness: Weak to hand disruption
Weakness: Difficult to beat planeswalkers at points

Matchups:

G/W Tokens and G/W Token Variants- 7/10 - This matchup is not a guaranteed win. The amount of board wipes we run in the main, however, assists in the matchup. Our fliers can go over the top of the tokens build. However, an early Hangarback not met with a Declaration in Stone or an Eldrazi Displacer blink can be difficult to fly over, but Atarka can do a pretty good job. Atarka allows for this deck to take out a planeswalker or 2.

B/G Seasons Past and Variants- 3/10 - This deck struggles with this matchup. That is why we dedicate some slots for this matchup, including the 2x Warping Wail to counter the card advantage house that is Seasons Past, or a Dark Petition. But without hand disruption, this matchup is very rough. In the sideboard, we have access to cards such as Display of Dominance and Gaea's Revenge to fizzle some removal and deal some good damage. But the matchup is still very difficult to win.

Bant Company and Bant Humans- 5/10 - This matchup can go either way. Company is difficult to deal with, but we have access to many board wipes in the main board and an ability to present a very quick clock. Displacer can tap some things for Nahiri to deal with, but this matchup could easily go either way game one. In the sideboard, we have access to hallowed moonlight, more sweepers, and stasis snare. We are probably less favored against Bant Humans, due to the ability of Thalia's Lieutenant to get creatures out of Radiant Flames range.

Mono White Humans- 7/10 - The number of sweepers and small removal spells this deck runs makes this match favorable. Fiery Impulse, Declaration in Stone, and even Warping Wail are all live removal spells against humans. Out of the board we get access to more sweepers and Naturalize to take out Always Watching and Gryff's Boon.

G/R Ramp- 4/10 - Slightly more favorable than Season's Past, just because our creatures can overpower some of their threats, and Warping Wail can counter VegiTime. Post board we get more Warping Wails to counter VegiTime. Stasis Snare can also remove threats, but I don't think it is particularly good.

4c Rites- 7/10 - We have spot removal for Cutthroat and board wipes against Displacer and the rest of the combo. Nahiri can exile Cryptolith Rites. Post board, Naturalize can take out Rites, Hallowed Moonlight can hose their Company. Also more board wipes.

B/W Control- 5/10 - Relatively rough matchup. Warping Wail can counter Ruinous Path. Gideon is tough to beat without ulting a Nahiri for an Atarka. Out of the sideboard, Orbs of Warding can negate their hand disruption, and ruin the tokens plan. Hallowed Moonlight can disrupt tokens as well.

Overall, I think that the matchups can go either way, for the most part, but I also think that there might be better decks to play. Planeswalkers can be a difficulty. I like using Nahiri to filter draws and be able to sort of have a tool box of creatures. However, this deck is certainly not better than a lot of the top tier lists. The only advantage you would have on people is the WTF am I playing against?

Any suggestions are appreciated, as well as thoughts on my write up. Thanks!
