Updates

Doing well — Nov. 29, 2012

I have added keyrunes to compensate against board wipes. They have proven to be a good addition to the deck as they have annoyed many competitors. I also added a single Collective Blessing after I played it in a draft deck and was surprised that you don't need a huge horde to make this viable. It has been a great asset during long games vs control.

No more Exalted :( — Oct. 16, 2012

After many play tests, I found that exalted was too easy to counter. Getting around that one chump blocker was frustrating.

Board change — Oct. 12, 2012

After a disappointing tourny, I am removing Knight of Glory and adding Ranger's Guile to the sideboard.

I'm wondering where the Rancor went. Trample + Exalted is where it's at. You can have a 20/20 Exalted swinging in but just get chump-blocked by some schmo-Spirit.

And Rancor is just an insane card, anyways.

As much as I like Sigarda, Host of Herons and think she's incredibly underrated, I feel like she's underutilized here. Sublime Archangel should really top out your curve creature-wise. In all honesty, I'd plug in another Oblivion Ring and another Loxodon Smiter . Smiter's a machine. He can't be countered and he's a 4/4 body on (likely) your second turn.

He's also the perfect counter to Liliana of the Veil , which will likely see some more play post-rotation. She goes to 4, you discard Smiter, and Lili dies next turn.

I built a deck like this a few weeks ago, just waiting on Rav to put it together. Looks very similar to mine (you can check it out at Exalted Smiters).

I like yours a lot. I would remove the card:Faith's Shield for Rancor however. Rancor makes this deck destroy. I'm not totally sold on the use of the planeswalkers either, not that they'd be bad by any means, just not sure they're totally necessary for the deck. I'll have to check back after you play it to see how it went. Also I agree with your use of Silverblade Paladin over Nearheath Pilgrim .

Nice deck, +1. Going to steal some of your sideboard ideas :-)

I took Rancor out to make room for Selesnya Charm as it has a trample ability. I love charms for their versatility, but I agree that losing rancor was a mistake. card:Faith's Shield is a game winner and so is going to stay. I'm not sure about Garruk Relentless  Flip . He is a good distraction and can sometimes fetch a game winning creature witch is why i am reluctant to remove him.

I don't necessarily disagree but I think it's smarter to have Rancor in especially for an exalted deck, so good choice to put it back. If you want Garruk in you could always shave off a Silverblade Paladin and a Sublime Archangel since Garruk allows you to go get the ones you do have.

Made a few changes to the sideboard but I don't know if it is the right build...

I'd take out the Guildgate. You want to be playing lands each turn and playing right up your curve. Playing something that must enter tapped will only slow you down. And you don't need that much mana-fixing, anyways.

+1 Plains , +1 Forest , -2 Selesnya Guildgate .

The deck has been play testing very well. I am still working on the side board. What about 2x Terminus for it?

Terminus makes for a good side board card no matter the circumstances, imo.

Well, last night's tourny was very disappointing. I went 1-2.

I had a strong first round getting 2 turn 4 wins (it helped that my opponent got mana screwed both times), but that was the only bright spot.

Round 2 was no contest. Game one I could only draw lands and game 2 I only saw two lands. I need to learn to mulligan/shuffle better.

Round 3 was very frustrating. Every attack was deflected by either bouncing to my hand or to the top of my deck ( Cyclonic Rift and Azorius Charm ). The only answer I have against this is my 4 card:Faith's Shield which I never saw. I need more protection for my creatures. That is why I'm going to add 3xcard:Ranger's Guile to my sideboard.

I put Sheltering Word and card:Judge's Familiar in my sideboard as options against the types of decks you went against in round 3. I'll see tonight how it works out.

I feel more confident with this build... It seems to handle control decks better. I will be playing it in a tournament tomorrow.

I have gone 3-0 in the past two tournys. It's running well, when it wants to... I still get mana screwed more than I think i should.

Nice deck, i see u dropped sublime for restoration angel... good combo plus u drop a double white mana demand. would trade out a plains for a forest but it probably wouldnt really make much of a matter. Hey fellow "Magicians" I'm Currently in afghanistan so im missing out on the current standard hopefully im back before the end of this block but i would really want someone to play one of the decks i built deck:gw-big-stuff (no sideboard yet) on a FNM and see how it does would be much appreciated. its a semi cheap deck money wise i guess... would be nice for some suggestions and feedback on it also.

I wondering if I should replace Loxodon Smiter with Centaur Healer . The meta around here is mostly control, so the can't be countered is nice, but it usually just gets board wiped. The centaur synergies better with the restoration angel but can be countered.

Any suggestions?

I switched back to Loxodon Smiter but kept Centaur Healer in the side.

I have gone 3-0 in the past two tournys I have taken it to.
